Soft blue, vibrant purples and a hint of blush make for a remarkable color palette. We keep finding ourselves fawning over the bridesmaids dresses, the florals, the design, well, pretty much everything! Jonathan and I were married on October 12, 2013 at Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, Georgia. Our search for a nontraditional yet elegant venue led us straight to Barnsley Gardens where we were able to find our ideal blend of history and class in this beautiful historic resort. The wedding ceremony was held at the historic ruins of the old Barnsley estate with the ethereal sound of classically trained stringed quartet Act of Congress (AOC) filling the gardens.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held within the ruins and on an adjacent, tented lawn. We wanted to maintain some of the traditional elements of a Southern wedding with an atmosphere that still felt open and relaxed. Barnsley provided just that. The reception was catered by Barnsley chefs and constructed of stations selected based on our taste for fresh, flavorful food.
The music was lively and bluegrass in its feel, also played by AOC, with dancing that carried us well into the night. The event design was inspired by the wedding gown itself with elements of vintage, 1920's charm conveyed through a softer, romantic palette (a theme that was also important in the design of our stationery).
