We had decided early on in the planning process that we did not want the typical church and ballroom wedding. Instead, our dream wedding involved a beach-rustic bar combination that surprisingly existed in Goleta, California at Dos Pueblos Ranch. We fell in love with this venue from just the pictures online and knew instantly that this is where our wedding would be held.
Ingredients:
2 ounces Grand Marnier, 1.5 ounces Tequila, 2 ounces lime juice, 2.5 ounces strawberry simple syrup [recipe below], lime + fresh strawberries for garnish & salt + sugar for the rim Directions:
For strawberry simple syrup: combine equal parts sugar and water, bring to boil and let sugar dissolve. Turn off heat and let cool completely. Combine 1 cup simple syrup and 1 1/2 cups slices strawberries in a blender and blend until combined.
Rim ridge of glass with a lime wedge and dip in salt and sugar. Fill glass with ice. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, grand marnier, simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds. Pour over ice and squeeze in lime slices and add a few strawberries.
Our desserts were supplemented with a candy bar and of course a make your own s’mores station next to the firepit. We also chose not to have your traditional 3 to 4 tier wedding cake. Instead, our guests were able to choose from an array of different bite size cupcakes.
Our reception was located just a short walk from the beach in a spacious, open barn. We continued the rustic theme with wooden table runners. White washed clothespins held the placeholders for guests and our menus were backed with burlap. Our table markers were spray-painted wooden picture frames-each held one of our engagement pictures shot by Love Janet Photography.
