When a couple truly love one another it shows. Dan and Kayla are a prime example, our hearts practically melted when we first laid eyes on their sweet orange and pink garden wedding! From a first look that had us "Awww"-ing to wedding kiss that we still can't stop smiling about, true love is in the air!
Located at Sue Casa at Oakbrook you can see even more of this lovely day photographed by Erin Minik when you visit our full gallery! Trust us there is plenty more to see.
From Erin Minik: Dan & Kayla's wedding was so much fun to photograph and the location had tons of character and detail. The couple, both having grown up in different towns chose Sue Casa at Oakbrook, nestled in Templeton, California (right outside San Luis Obispo) as the perfect mid-way point between the two families.
It sat on a beautiful hillside overlooking the gorgeous California countryside and added to Kayla's choice of splashes of orange and pink tones, which photographed so pretty next to the houses sunny yellow stucco. By choosing to have a destination wedding, Kayla chose to DIY all of the reception details and have her florist add personal touches of greenery to everything.

From the Bride: My advice for future brides is to be as organized as possible. We made sure that every detail of the wedding was planned and taken care of so we could just relax and enjoy our day. We had a very clear timeline scheduled for the day of the wedding that we shared with all of our vendors beforehand. We wanted to be sure everyone was on the same page. Doing this alleviated any stress there might have been.
We did our wedding budget a little different than most people. We didn't set a definite budget on every single thing that we purchased. Instead we did a lot of research to find the best deal of exactly what we wanted. If you don't make quick or impromptu purchases, and instead go home and think on it, you will probably find a cheaper or maybe even a better option. In the end we stayed under our budget, so that is what worked best for us!
In terms of the reception, let your wedding party sit wherever they want. As much as we love our best friends, we loved seeing them enjoy time with their significant others. It allowed us and the wedding party, the freedom to mingle among family and friends without feeling obligated, uncomfortable or on display throughout dinner.
While our day was practically perfect the one complaint we had was the weather- it was VERY hot. Having an outdoor wedding, we were a bit worried as it ended up being in the triple digits and humid. Luckily the venue had several moveable umbrellas available to shade our guests during the ceremony, and we were able to rent a few more just days before the wedding. If I could go back and re-do anything it would just be this: be prepared for any and every weather dilemma.
