We have so much love for Molly and Trevor’s unique and colorful modern wedding at Duke Gardens in Durham, North Carolina. Pantone colors pop beautifully against the gold and black decor, and we’re obsessed with the floral wallpaper throughout. Of course, Molly’s breathtaking red rose prom dress by Mac Duggal stole the show, which she snagged at Nordstrom for only $240. You do you, girl! We love it!
A few more must-see details to look out for are…the Pantone swatch place cards, scented floral tattoos for the bridesmaids, and their UH-MAZING black wedding cake with jewel toned florals! It’s insane how gorgeous and unique this wedding turned out, so don’t miss the full gallery because Carolyn Scott Photography captured every last detail beautifully.
From Carolyn Scott Photography: Molly and Trevor were married at Duke Gardens in Durham, NC. Molly wore the most AMAZING floral dress which happens to be a $250 prom dress from Mac Duggal at Nordstrom. All of her bridesmaids wore matching (and scented) floral tattoos, and the ring bearers had boutonnieres made from sprigs of plants and HotWheel cars.
The place cards for the guests were large Pantone color swatches complete with the guest name and an official Pantone color picked for them. They also doubled as postcards with space to write a message on the back for either Molly+Trevor, or to send to someone you met at the wedding.
The bar and the backdrop for the band were wallpapered in a beautiful floral by Molly. Many of the guests traveled from all over (especially from Ireland, where Trevor is from), and they had a lovely international bash!
From the bride: Seriously consider suggestions made by children - this is how you'll end up with an ice cream truck and boutonnières made of HotWheels cars. As for the adults, only solicit opinions from the ones who think (or can convincingly pretend) all your ideas are absolutely brilliant.
Our big send-off was definitely a failure, but I'm not sure I'd call it a "disaster." After a lot of the guests had cleared out, Trev and I decided to walk around the venue on our own. We both ended up falling asleep on the lawn (it was a long day, ya know?) while, unbeknownst to us, all the remaining guests were lined up at the front of the building with flower petals and confetti. No one could find us so after a while they just gave up and got on the buses. We woke up to the noise of the caterers breaking down tables. Everyone (and our bus) was gone. We ended up leaving our own wedding in an Uber. Watching my new husband trying to wrestle my giant dress into the backseat of a Prius was the funniest way to end to the night. I'd highly recommend it.
