The concept of the shoot is based on the book and movie Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. The love story is about two people finding one another in their darkest times, but still being able to bring out the best in one another. Both characters are laid back and easy going people, so we imagine their wedding would be the same. The pops of floral color, provided by Designs by Darenda, and rustic décor, provided by My Sisters Creations, were inspired by the causal, but beautiful setting of Southport, North Carolina.

From the Vendors:We felt as if the privacy of the wooded setting, just like Erin’s home, would be the perfect location for an intimate ceremony. As well as keeping to the coastal town theme, having the reception at the beach where they spent many happy times together would be a perfect representation for them as a couple. The props and styling used for the ceremony included a custom aisle made out of vintage lace, lined with tree stumps & accessorized by candles and brightly colored flowers.
For the ceremony colors we used bright colored flowers to highlight the wood and rustic feelings, and bring more of a vibrant look to the natural setting. As for clothing we envisioned casual, simple, comfortable. What would Erin and Alex really wear? For Erin, we went with classic white, but fun short wedding dress paired with her favorite converse to suit her laid back personality. While Alex stays true to his plaid shirts and dressier slacks.
For the reception we wanted to go bold and fun with a wardrobe change & thought a patriotic and summer theme would be fun since they celebrate the 4th of July in the story. This blue high-low dress paired with cowboy boots gave the perfect mix of elegant and fun. While Alex also got a little fancier with his white button down paired with fun & patriotic vintage suspenders.
At the sweetheart table, we included vintage chairs, chic place settings, and “Mr.” & “Mrs.” Chalkboard signs. For the reception we used pinks, purples, and pops of gold, still trying to portray a fun laid back nautical wedding.
For the reception an old rustic desk provided the perfect table to showcase our beautiful cake, colorful cake pops, and fun signature drink. Personal touches like the handwritten vows & a Polaroid picture guest book have significance in the story and would add an inviting touch to real world weddings.
We also created a yellow floor as that was a significant part of their relationship in the story, and we wanted their wedding day to include personal touches and favorite memories of the couple. We wanted to give brides inspiration for summer and also to remind couples everywhere to be themselves and try to incorporate person touches into their wedding. What are you comfortable wearing, what means the most to you both as a couple … make your wedding irresistibly YOU!
