"It began as a childhood crush in fifth grade... He was so tall. I liked that." Maral coyly said as her eyes searched Nema's face for a reaction. Nema grinned and explained that in Iran the girls attended school in the morning and the boys in the afternoon. "So we only saw each other briefly by peering over the school wall."
But, after primary school, Maral and her family moved to Canada and Nema relocated to Germany. It wasn't until years later that a mutual childhood friend would reconnect them again.
