Rustic Peach Wedding on a Horse Farm: Jennifer & Alex’s Dream Day in Toronto

Bride and groom in elegant wedding attire pose by a rustic door

Jennifer and Alex were living in London, England when they got engaged and starting planning their Toronto, Canada wedding while living abroad. They relied on their wedding party and wedding planner, Cynthia Martyn Events Inc. to help them plan their rustic peach wedding. All held on a horse farm owned by a close family friend of the groom. As always you can see the entire wedding in the full gallery by clicking here.

Our wedding took place in three different areas on the property: the lawn by the pond for our ceremony, a tented dinner and dancing in an old hay barn. We wanted the wedding to feel formal but in a rustic setting and we achieved this through adding touches such as hanging chandeliers on the old wooden beams in the barn. I also had my heart set on peonies which made a June wedding-with peonies galore- perfect for us!

From The Groom:When you plan an outdoor ceremony, it is impossible not to worry about the weather. We found ourselves obsessing over the 7 day forecast before the wedding, which to us read 'nothing but sunshine....except for your big day where we expect thunder showers and heavy rain'. From the moment I woke up, to about mid-afternoon there was consistent rain. I remember my groomsmen encouraging me that a barn ceremony would be "..memorable" when out of nowhere the wind stopped and the clouds broke an hour before the ceremony.

Watching my new wife walk down the aisle in fresh sunlight was a moment I will never forget. We came out of it with good luck (so superstition says!), and great weather for the entire evening!  A favorite moment from both was the wedding was as we rode away from the ceremony in a horse drawn carriage. All the guests started to cheer and the horse, not used to the noise bolted taking us along! It was a wild ride to start our marriage and we're looking forward to many more wild rides - always together!
