Rustic DIY Wedding At The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards

Emily and Jeremy met at a bluegrass festival, so it was no surprise when they chose The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards as the venue for their wedding. With the help of event designer Bliss Weddings & Events and Dawn Crothers Cimino of Something Vintage Rentals, this couple enhanced the rustic appeal of the century old barn with diy projects and an assortment of vintage furniture and tableware.

From Bliss Weddings & Events:The Barns at Hamilton Station Vineyards is nestled in Loudon County, which is beautiful year-round but even more breathtaking during the fall foliage. The Barns showcase hand-crafted wines made from Virginia grapes on a former historic dairy farm.

It was so important to Emily and Jeremy that their friends and family felt relaxed and enjoyed themselves throughout the day, so they added in a few meaningful details that really helped in keeping the event flowing smoothly. Guests were transported to the venue by old time trolleys then greeted with fresh glazed doughnuts, champagne, and serenaded by the Hillbilly Gypsies. The ceremony was held in the backyard of The Barns estate, which overlooks the colorful changing leaves and a reflective pond.

The cocktail hour was held in the upper level of the Barn and featured signature cocktails, like Catoctin Creek and Rye Cider, along with local wines and cheeses. The inside of the upper level is warm and inviting outfitted with original barn wood, a fireplace, and a rustic chandelier.

Something Vintage Rentals collection of farm tables, mismatched dessert plates, and teacups were the perfect touch. Keeping with the vintage theme, Lisa Marie and Michelle of Sweet Tea Photography documented the day with a few vintage film cameras.

Dinner was served in the cellar, which allowed for a nice intimate atmosphere. Emily and Jeremy are big “foodies” and really enjoyed the idea of Farm-to-table, which refers to a movement concerned with producing food locally and delivering that food to local consumers. Market Table Bistro put on an amazing feast. They served four courses with the main entrée, a pan roasted pork tenderloin over sweet potato puree and house smoked bacon brussels sprouts.

The grand finale was a palate cleansing pear sorbet and then later in the evening, guests enjoyed a dessert display with the best wedding cake they would ever taste from Connie's Cake Creations, accompanied by desserts from Mom's Apple Pie. It was important to the couple to keep things green, local, delicious, festive and fun. They could not have been happier with the way everything turned out.

Emily and Jeremy knew that they wanted to wind the party down properly and what better way to do that than with a good ol’ fashioned bonfire. And, in thinking back to the first nights they spent camping together, there were plenty of Smore’s and Love to go around.From the Bride: It was a truly spectacular day, and we both had a blast. Thankfully we had a wedding planner because they allowed us to just be in the moment and enjoy every second. What would we change? My husband says nothing and me, as the bride, I wish I could have spent more time with guests. My husband greeted guests as they arrived at our pre-ceremony champagne, cider and donuts so he got to talk to every single person. We opted to not see each other before the wedding and are happy with that decision, so we were taking photos during cocktail hour — not sure how I could have spent more time with guests!
