Rustic Colorado Wedding at Rubywood House
When it came time for this cute couple to plan their destination wedding, they wanted quality time with people they love, Colorado mountains, and a marriage ceremony as the trip's grand finale. As Texas residents, they befriended Google and let the long-distance wedding planning begin. The Rubywood House in Breckenridge was the perfect venue, with snow-capped mountains as a backdrop. It was absolutely breathtaking.

From the Bride:My favorite moment was Ryan's face as dad walked me down the aisle. I will never forget what he looked like: tears streaming down both cheeks of his sun-kissed face (mountain biking bachelor party the day before). His expression was everything I hoped for and more ... it was a countenance of love without boundaries. It was an expression of overwhelmed gratitude, passion, humility, and delight ... all in one! My second favorite moment was ... our ceremony! It was so personal. Our sweet friend, Jenn Helvering, sung our favorite song "Redemption" by Kristine Mueller. The ceremony was truly everything we hoped for and more!
I handled many decor details myself, and thankfully, had an amazing mother to help me pull it all together with talented family and friends. Many vendors are close friends, which made the day that much more meaningful. We chose a neutral color palette with blush pinks and some soft greens and brown. My mom, mom-in-love, sister-in-love, and I made or found most of the items that detailed the space. Ryan created an "epic" playlist for the ceremony and reception. The whole evening was so full of love.

Before even assessing what money we had to pull together for a wedding (which was limited) ... Ryan and I discussed 'if we could have anything, what would it be?' for the first month of our engagement. We decided on a getaway to the mountains with our loved ones. Once we started to crunch the numbers, we realized how feasible our dream was! A big city (Dallas) venue was an average $6,000 starting cost for 4 hours ... and no one had eaten yet. However, our getaway mountain mansion (Rubywood House) was only $4,450 (and that was for 16 adults to stay 4 days!). At that point, it was a no brainer. A dream wedding does not have to break the bank. A dream wedding is budget friendly if you do your homework, make friends with vendors, plan, and stay organized!
Ryan and I were very strategic with our money; we wanted to maximize our dollar. So for things like renting sound equipment, we found it was cheaper and smarter to buy a Bose home stereo with an auxiliary cord to plug and play... which of course is still a nice addition to our first place. For other 'traditional' items like buying corsages for moms, dads, brothers, etc ... we chose to spend our money on things that wouldn't die! So we used the same price-point ($25 per person) to buy sentimental gifts that would remind them of our trip together! Code word: ETSY. Ryan and I were also very strategic with our wedding decorations. We bought items that could be 'used again' and look great as decor in our home!
