Steve and Majell wanted an "Entre Nous" (Between Us) vow renewal in a garden-setting with a French theme incorporated into every detail of their day. Majell was always fascinated by Marie Antoinette so it comes as no surprise that their vow renewal was on the grounds of the gorgeous Château de Versailles.
Everything from the glamorous ombré pink tulle Vera Wang ball gown and jeweled bouquet to the romantic vow renewal on the rowboat along the Palace of Versailles's Grand Canal complimented their theme perfectly. It was Marie Antoinette meets the 21st Century and it was amazing! View additional romantic Paris wedding ideas in the full gallery here, captured by French Grey Photography.
It was important to choose a unique location that was not considered cliché. I also didn’t want a place where tourists could easily walk by as we were saying our vows to each other, which is something that is a bit hard to avoid in one of Europe’s most visited destinations. I thought about the things that drew me into French culture. I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with Marie Antoinette since I was a little girl. To me, her style was audacious and exquisite. It was then I thought about Marie Antoinette’s lovely palace she shared with King Louis XVI, Château de Versailles.
Anyone who’s been to Paris knows that the weather is unpredictable. We were a bit worried that it would rain on our wedding day. Luckily, on the day of our 10th wedding anniversary, the clouds gave way to the sun. We arrived at Château de Versailles and made our way through the lush and symmetrical gardens to the large lake called Le Grand Canal. It was here where we recited our vows in a rowboat. It was perfect because that romantic and intimate moment was ours to cherish forever. Saying vows again where the King and Queen of France famously lived was truly a dream come true and very surreal. We can’t think of a more perfect backdrop to say, “I do” again.
