The day began at the Westin River North where the couple spent the morning with their family and closest friends that made up a 20 person bridal party! The wedding ceremony, officiated by Jared's godfather and a Buddhist priest, integrated both Sri Lankan and Western traditions.
The traditional Sinhalese-Buddhist wedding ceremony dates back to the 3rd century B.C. The ceremony took place on the "Poruwa," a decorated platform that is the spiritual center of the wedding. Both families were included in the the cultural and religious traditions.
The culmination of Sri Lankan rituals symbolized a lifetime of happiness, protection, strength, and health, as they begin their life together. In addition, there were traditional Sri Lankan drummers that played throughout the ceremony in key moments.
Following the ceremony, the bridal party joined Mindy and Jared at the Lyric Opera House for photographs, where the thunderstorms came out again to play!
The ceremony was followed by a elegant and romantic reception, also held at Gallery 1028. The blush floral, candlelight, and gold decor, highlighted and added warmth to the rustic space.
Mindy and Jared shared their first dance to the "Best Part" by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. Beautiful and heartfelt speeches were shared by Jared's brothers and dad, and Mindy's sister.
The wedding concluded with drinks and tons of dancing, which were also joined by the Sri Lankan drummers. Prior to the last hour of dancing and drinks, Mindy changed into a beautiful pink and gold lengha, Sri Lankan formal wear, to end the night. The entire celebration was filled with elegance, intimacy, and love!
