The Fraser River Lodge had the perfect mountain backdrop for Natasha and Davids outdoor nuptials in BC, Canada. Their dreamy day was a vision in blush and ivory, and featured soft pastel florals and the prettiest blush bridesmaid dresses.
It’s no wonder why the bride described her day as, “an absolute dream”! Keep scrolling to read more about her inspiration below, and find a full gallery with more must-see moments beautifully captured by Mikaela Ruth Photography.
From the bride: Our wedding was an absolute dream, though perhaps not technically perfect, perfect is how I describe it to anyone who asks. I know it’s a strong word, but when David and I reflect on our day we really do believe it. David and I have been together for almost 5 years after reconnecting from high school. He proposed to me on a beautiful snowy day in January, during a walk along our favourite path with our dogs Maya and Peter. After we shared the news with our loved ones, we couldn’t wait to invite everyone to the wedding.
The venue and ceremony space was one of the more important aspects of the wedding. We currently live in the prairies of Alberta and it was important to choose a venue from our home province of BC. Fraser River Lodge showcased the gorgeous mountains of the Fraser Valley in a private location.
Once we knew where we were going to get married, David and I both agreed that we wanted to invest in a talented photographer. One who would capture our most cherished moments in a meaningful and beautiful way. Even before getting engaged I wanted Mikaela from Mikaela Ruth Photography to capture our special day.
I knew decorating would be challenging as we were planning a wedding from afar. I searched for a decorator online and from the pretty aesthetic of her website, to her charming warm personality, Stephanie from Sweetheart Events was perfect. I knew I could trust her to bring my vague vision of blush, ivory, and lots of flowers to life. To say I was happy with the overall look and feel of our wedding is an understatement.
For our reception it was important to create an inviting, warm atmosphere where everyone we love would have a good time. We chose to go with two long tables for everyone to sit at, family style. I put a lot of thought into creating a seating chart where the conversation would flow seamlessly from old friends reacquainting, to guests creating new friendships.
