Inspired by Rennesaince paintings, Cluster Events designed a wedding for this couple that incorporated everything that makes the masterpieces so moving. From the deep moody color palette of rich plums, warm mahogany, and forest greens to gilded accents, and of course just the right lighting, each of these photos by Jenny Smith & Co is channeling the "Accidental Rennesaince" phenomenon. Although, can you really call it accidental if it's perfectly curated? Keep reading to hear all about this beautiful day and to see even more of these breathtaking photos.
How To Mix And Match Your Moody Wedding Decor
Moody Outdoor Romance Wedding with Gorgeous DIY Flowers
Wedding planning was a whirlwind but also such a fun opportunity to lean into a creative outlet. From vision boarding to strategy calls with our wonderful wedding planners, Cluster Events, a lot of thought went into planning this wedding. The florals by Roobarb Studio were designed to be reminiscent of a Renaissance painting, from the variety of florals to the fruit on the table. The vintage crystal coups and wine glasses felt like me. I love unique and fun drinkware and I wanted to show that at our wedding dinner. Frankie was an incredible visionary who took what was in my head and brought it to life. We have similar styles and I trusted her fully.
Hand-pressed paper, torn silk, and rich burgundy and taupe set the tone of the day as soon as the invitations arrived. They carried the theme through with custom menus on the big day.
I wanted the dress to be a statement. I knew I did not want to wear all white and I knew I wanted lace. Monique Lhuillier made me a custom dress with the lace and fabric I wanted with the bodice of another dress. I loved that the underskirt of my dress was a light pink it matched the florals perfectly.
Gilded ceilings and dark wood floors reflected the flicker of candles and the lights from the chandeliers in the ceremony space. At the end of the aisle awaited an asymmetrical floral arch that incorporated every shade in this moody color palette.
When it was time to really get the party started, the bride slipped away and made her grand entrance in this adorable sequin mini dress with feather details.
For this thoughtful seating chart, guests were asked to find an envelope with their name on it, inside there was a question just for them–some evoked good memories and some asked for advice. Nearby polaroid cameras were waiting for guests to leave a snapshot of them at the wedding along with their answers. We love an interactive seating chart and this one doubled as a guest book!
Having a top band was a must. We wanted a band with range, who could nail the wedding classics but also branch out into other genres.
You know you nailed the signature cocktail when our guests are still trying to recreate "the lily" and "the ben". Everyone still keeps asking us what was in them! Huge shout out to the Ebell mixology and culinary team for their passion and creativity in making the food and drinks so special.
In lieu of a champagne tower, this couple poured their guests a tower of espresso martinis! Then, the happy couple cut into a two-tiered buttercream cake with a rich red fruit filling.
