Ashley & Jay’s met in college art class, and little did they know that their shared passion for creativity would lead them down a colorful, bohemian chic path to their dream wedding. Ashley and Jay's love story was brought to life in a truly unique celebration held at Rancho Moonrise in Austin, Texas.
Originally planning to tie the knot in San Miguel Mexico, their plans took an unexpected turn due to the pandemic. However, this didn't dampen their spirits as they quickly pivoted and created a wedding that was a true reflection of their personalities and their journey together. The wedding day was a vibrant display of love, art, and unconventional elements. The couple had developed the ranch together, making it a truly special place for them to exchange vows. The theme was western with a bohemian twist, and the result was a visually stunning and unforgettable experience for everyone in attendance. Their day was photographed by Rowan and Birch. You can see even more of their day in the full gallery here.
Ashley walked down the aisle in a stunning pink ruffled wedding gown, exuding a sense of whimsy and uniqueness that perfectly matched the colorful and bohemian chic theme of their special day.
Having an unplugged wedding ceremony means that the couple requests that their guests refrain from using electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and cameras, during the ceremony. It encourages guests to be fully present in the moment and to enjoy the ceremony without the distraction of technology. Unplugged weddings often aim to create a more intimate and connected atmosphere, where guests can fully immerse themselves in the experience and focus on the couple and their vows.
The sprawling grounds of Rancho Moonrise provided ample opportunities for breathtaking outdoor ceremonies and receptions. From the lush greenery and towering oak trees to the rustic barn and charming courtyard, the venue offers a plethora of picturesque settings. As the day turned into night, the ranch transformed into a magical wonderland, with twinkling lights, flickering candles, and the sounds of laughter and music filling the air. The couple danced the night away, surrounded by the warmth and love of their guests, against the backdrop of the serene and picturesque Rancho Moonrise.
The food was a highlight of the evening, with oysters from Aphrodite Oysters and charcuterie being served during the cocktail hour, followed by late-night snacks from Fresas Chicken. True to their non-traditional approach, the couple opted to have the Royal Lukes Band perform instead of typical wedding tunes, setting the tone for a night of dancing and celebration like no other.
As a departure from the traditional wedding cake, Ashley and Jay surprised their guests with individual cakes at each table from Deaux Baker, adding a delightful and personalized touch to their bohemian chic celebration.
