No wedding day is complete without a few hiccups, and if those hiccups happen to be a surprise rain storm, then what is a bride to do? Despite the less than favorable weather, the couple chose to focus on what was most important to them: their lifelong commitment to each other.
Charcoal greys, blush pinks and subtle creams complimented the relaxed garden vibe of this lovely day. Our favorite detail? The brides UH-MAZING and totally unique flower crown bar of course! Keep scrolling for more beautiful images from Courtney Leigh Photo, and don't miss the full gallery after!
From the bride: For my wedding, I wanted our family and friends to feel like they were walking into an elegant, botanical, simple wonderland. We held our reception at Jacob’s parent’s backyard, and my styling the location came with ease as it held sentimental value in our hearts being where Jacob grew up. Their backyard was a perfect place to let my garden wedding dreams unfold. As a bride, I knew I wanted my wedding to be relaxed and for our guests to feel like they were a part of our family regardless if they were not. Just like mine and Jacob’s relationship, easy, simple, and full of love were the words that came to mind when I was finding inspiration for our wedding.
To say that my wedding and marriage to Jacob was something out of the storybooks would be an understatement. Not only because my nuptial vision seamlessly came to life, but because of the amazing vendors that I had the pleasure of working with. It poured on our wedding day, and our coordinator and baker, Natalie of Jade Magnolia, and our photographer, Courtney Brown of Courtney Leigh Photography, pulled together and set out and styled our reception in a matter of 15 minutes when our reception plans were pushed back over an hour. When I say that this dream team treated me like family, I truly mean that from the bottom of my heart. Most importantly, vowing to love, cherish, and honor my person for the rest of my life while serving our Lord was simply priceless.
For my florals I wanted them to be an accent up against our cream and charcoal styled wedding party. They were so dreamy and everything I hoped they would be. When thinking of what I wanted my wedding guests to take away from our wedding, I truly wanted whatever that may have been to be unique and memorable. My twin sister and I set up a flower crown bar for our ladies to create their own whimsical, blooming crown. They were such a hit, and we had all ages running around with flower crowns!
What you wouldn’t see from our photos of the backyard was that it poured right as we left the church. Our plans of having a tent on stand-by fell through, and all of our 120 guests managed to squeeze into my in-law’s shop. None of my decorations and flowers was set out, and all of the details that I had cared so much about seemed like a waste. Then, Jacob took my hand and led me to the center of the floor. Holding onto my new husband, I began looking around the crowded shop and felt such at ease. We had so many family and friends that felt just as special as family smiling and beaming with as much excitement as we were. In that moment, I knew how genuine and meaningful this day in your life really should be and is.
As much fun and important as it is to have your wedding dreams come true, basking in the moment that you are now finally bound to the love of your life while surrounded by your favorite people; that’s something that could never be planned.
