Punta Cana is a wedding destination of dreams and we've got proof! Jimmy and Ashley wanted the breathtaking surroundings of Punta Cana to be the focus of their wedding decor so they chose a simple color palette that consisted of ivory and golds, mixed with greenery. Their romantic and elegant theme was infused with touches of both rustic and modern elements. Planning a wedding in another country can be difficult but, with an amazing coordinator like Bego of Kukua, this wedding is proof that it can be done!
We love how they said "our secret is really quite simple, find someone who never stops making you laugh." This bride also had more amazing wedding advice for all you lovelies which you can find throughout this post! Don't forget to check out the full gallery, photographed by Asia Pimentel Photography, to see more of their gorgeous day.
We love to travel. We always thought about a destination wedding but since both of us had never been to one, we weren’t sure where to begin! We had vacationed in the DR before and had always remembered how much we loved its beautiful beaches so choosing Punta Cana was easy. We knew we wanted a more intimate and personalized wedding so, having an off-resort venue was a must. We narrowed down the selections and decided to visit them in person, after all, it was another excuse to travel. Online photos do not do the beauty at Kukua’s Beach Club justice and the food is delicious, we could instantly see ourselves getting married there. However the real beauty of Kukua is the wedding coordinator Begoña! The love and passion she has for her work combined with her honesty and kindness made Kukua an easy choice.
Our wedding day was nothing short of magical. Amongst our closest family and friends on a gorgeous beach, we finally became husband and wife. Although every detail of my wedding was perfect, my favorite moment was exchanging our personal vows. The moment was so quiet and genuine; it was as if we were the only two people there. The number one concern a bride has when having an outdoor wedding is bad weather. Early on, we agreed not worry about it, after all, it’s always sunny and beautiful in Punta Cana. All the days leading up to and surrounding the wedding during our trip were gorgeous. But yes, it rained not once, not twice but three times on the day of the wedding. No vendor or guest skipped a beat, we simply laughed and danced in the rain. And of course, Asia & Niko knew how to capture all the moments beautifully. Actually, one of our favorite photos from the day would not have been possible unless it rained! (the umbrella/LOVE sign photo)
Many people told me the most important element of a wedding is the photography, and I couldn’t agree more. We didn’t just want our loved ones to see what our wedding looked like; we wanted them to feel the emotion we shared on our special day. These elements are difficult to capture even for the most experienced professionals, but one look at Asia & Niko’s work and you know they’ve mastered it. Future brides getting married in hot destinations.... the second dress is a must! I loved my wedding dress and thought I would want to stay in it all night. After all, you only get to wear it once. Three days before leaving for the wedding, I purchased another light flowy dress just in case. I changed into that 1 hour into the reception and was so thankful. Another destination wedding must.... a trash the dress session! Unique and beautiful photos not every couple is so lucky to have!
At the end of the day, find out whats most important to you and don't feel bad about splurging. For us, it was finding the perfect photographers and venue, and we don't have a single regret! They were more than we could've ever dreamed of. And remember, only you are noticing those little details so don't stress over them so much. At the end of the day, your loved ones are looking at and celebrating you! Enjoy sharing your big day in a beautiful location surrounded those who love you most. Those are the memories you'll have captured on film and will cherish forever.
Speaking of film, the beautiful video below, filmed by Asia Pimentel Photography, is a must watch! The first look is Adorable plus you get to see part of the fun trash the dress session!
