Leanne and Forrest's charming South Carolina outdoor wedding took place on the beautiful grounds of Jackson's Landing with a ceremony space that overlooks the city of Columbia out in the distance. Nothing quite says "southern" like their 18-member wedding party, all close friends and family with this congenial pair, dressed in perfect compliments of grey and pink.
The friendly atmosphere extended throughout the entire day making the day twice as beautiful. Take a closer look at this pretty pink southern wedding in the full gallery, wonderfully photographed by Casey Edwards Photography.
They began their day with a private first look, Leanne in her classic silhouette Melissa Sweet gown with floral appliques and Forrest in his navy suit paired with a unique tie from The Tie Bar. After receiving their floral themed invitation suites in the mail, guests were greeted by a matching hand-painted sign as they arrived for the ceremony.
With hopes that guests would savor the sacred moments of their worship-filled ceremony, another sign asked that they kindly "unplug" their phones and cameras in order to be fully present during this time. Standing at their birch wood alter, draped in greenery, the groom's father officiated their ceremony and invited the wedding party to surround the bride and groom for a time of prayer before announcing them as husband and wife.
Before joining their guests at the reception, the bride and groom savored a moment alone, taking portraits in a sun-drenched field complete with one last rehearsal of their first dance. The reception, designed and planned to perfection by Melanie Murphy (By Invitation Only), was adorned in pinks, golds, and greens. Chandeliers and drapery hung from their rafters while magnolia leaves lined the tables. Handcrafted "triangle solitaire" games were placed along the tables for guests to enjoy playing.
The two-tier ruffle-laced cake sat atop a glittering gold tablecloth and was topped with flowers and a gold cutout of the couples' new initials. Cupcakes with gold sprinkles were served to guests along with their fun bottles of "Yoohoo" chocolate beverage before the toast began. The evening was filled with dancing and laughter beneath a canopy of lights hung just days before by the groom himself.
I wasn't crazy about the idea of wearing a veil, even for my ceremony, but I decided to do it at the last minute. As soon as the ceremony was over, I took the veil off as my groom and I headed to take portraits. Looking back, I wish I had kept my veil on for a little longer so we could have gotten some veil photos. I think veil shots are so beautiful and can be so creative, so I'm sad I took mine off so quickly!
