Polo Perfect Wedding: Leah and LJ’s Virginia Love Story

Bride on horseback smiles at groom on their wedding day

It was their love for polo that originally brought Leah and LJ together. They first met for at the Virginia Polo Center in Charlottesville. Their love for each other and the equestrian sport are equally represented in their oh so pretty perfect polo wedding!
Horseshoes became a big part of the decor and we love all the ways that they were incorporated into the day. See even more inspiring wedding details in the full gallery here, photographed by Ashley Cox Photography.

How They Met

Three years her senior at the University of Virginia, LJ was a polo instructor and Leah was a first year student taking polo lessons. Though I am sure sparks flew between them on the polo fields, it took a several months and the same Economics class for the two of them to finally connect. It was Leah who got up the courage to sit next to LJ. Playing it cool, LJ asked her out for lunch after class and they’ve been together ever since.

Polo Center Venue

The Virginia Polo Center made the picture perfect wedding day venue for Leah and LJ. It was an incredible way to personify everything they love about each other, polo, UVA and Charlottesville (and the gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge Mountains didn't hurt either).

Rustic Elegance & Charm

I would say though, some characteristics were kept in mind with every design choice. We had one of the best blank, yet picturesque canvases to work with. It was important for Leah and LJ to create an ambiance of fun, warmth, and sophistication. Overall their vision for this day was rustic elegance with charm as the cherry on top.
