When you know what you do best and can play up those strengths and delegate all tasks that you are weaker at, that is when the magic of working with a team happens! No this is not a team work workshop post, but lets be honest, planning a wedding means working with tons of moving parts, and knowing how you fit within them is the first step in reducing stress. So, if you are less of a party planner and more of a designer or vice versa be sure you hand off the tasks to professionals that can help shape the perfect day for you.
Our next bride admits to and plays to her strengths for her Fall garden wedding in Pennsylvania. You can see every last detail of this gorgeous day photographed by Brandon Rodkewitz by visiting our full gallery here!
Kim and Rich were married at Barley Sheaf Farm on October 15, 2016. Their mutual love for Autumn colors, unexpected details, and unconventional design choices made this wedding a true designer's dream to work on. Michelle Edgemont Design created an intimate setting in a large tent with twinkling lights, a full wooden floor, whimsical arrangements, and comfortable lounges from Maggpie Rentals. The custom tied napkins and handmade wooden and brass table numbers elevated the tablescapes. On the head table, a lush runner of Fall flowers was surrounded by laser cut wooden place cards for their closest family and friends.
The bride's chic take on a traditional dress and the groom's classic suit were beautifully documented by photographer Brandon Rodkewitz, as you can see in their gorgeous portrait images. The guests sat on styled vintage lounge areas while listening to the band and eating delicious chocolate wedding cake. The cake was thoughtfully decorated with flowers by Michelle Edgemont Design.
From the Bride: I had a day of coordinator and an event designer, but not an overall wedding planner. I very much like to plan things and am pretty particular (controlling) about coordinating things and selecting specific vendors. I liked being hands on during the process for everything except decor (I'm not creative and our designer made our tent wedding totally gorgeous, as you can see).
I handled research and booking of the band, the photographer, the pizza truck and karaoke for the afterparty, lunch for the bridal parties the day of, etc. etc. It was definitely a lot, but I enjoyed the coordination. If you are not someone that enjoys this, DO NOT DO IT. Hire a planner and listen to them. Delegate everything. It's a lot of work and can be stressful on top of all the other stress associated with getting married. I was happy I did it, but I now see the benefits of an official planner.
