The day may have started out overcast, but the beautiful couple and and their lovely wedding brightened up the day with no sunshine needed. If you love weddings and classic romance fit for a novel, then we have no doubt you'll love this wedding as much as we do!
The gorgeous pink and white color palette set the tone for the day and everything turned out absolutely beautifully. You'll definitely want to peruse the full gallery here for some steal-worthy pink and white mansion wedding ideas, photographed by Joanna Fisher Photography.
From Joanna Fisher Photography: When I arrived to the historic Steamboat Inn in Mystic Connecticut, I was a little disappointed that it was overcast. But the second I stepped into Amanda's room, ready to capture the morning of her wedding day, I was quickly reminded that the only sunshine that really mattered that day was coming from the bride herself. Amanda was radiant as she sat excitedly through hair and makeup. She and her bridesmaids chatted over mimosas, laughed and gushed over how beautiful every detail was.
If I could give a piece of advice to future brides, it would be to take a risk with your bridesmaids dresses. I really liked the look of miss-matched bridesmaids dresses, but was afraid to take the risk doubting that it would go with the classic wedding look I was aspiring for. Looking back I played it safe keeping the dresses all consistent. I think the perfect compromise would have been choosing one style dress but switching up the tops of each of them. If you're thinking about taking the risk- do it! You'll be happy when your wedding stands out from all the rest.
Squeals of delight were heard as the flowers were brought in by the incredibly talented Earth Blossoms, and tears of joy were easily shed as Amanda stepped into her gown. Taking her bouquet into her hands, she explained to me that the ribbon around the stems was a piece of lace from her grandmother's veil. A penny, slipped into the heel of her shoe, for good luck. A kiss from her tearful father. A little girl whispered "look a princess!" as she passed by. And cheers of congratulations were called out as a sailboat passed through the small harbor. Every moment unfolded like a classic romance movie.
Arriving at the stunning Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, guests fell quickly into place, all eager to see Amanda walk down the aisle. There was hardly a dry eye in the church - least of all, Tony, Amanda's handsome groom. Following a traditional mass, the celebration continued as the bridal party made their way to Eolia Mansion in Waterford Connecticut. The moment the happy, newly wedded couple stepped out of their car, the sun peeked through the clouds and bathed the elegant English gardens and stone pergola in golden summer sunlight - and my heart skipped a beat.
Family and friends toasted to the couple, and everyone danced late into the evening. After cutting the cake, the bride and groom revealed their own surprise - a Penn State ice cream bar, celebrating their college days. I don't doubt that anyone left this joyful occasion without a full belly and a smile on their face!
