their love story
Leigh and Jackson first crossed paths in college, but it was a chance encounter after graduation that marked the true beginning of their relationship. While driving one day, Leigh got a large branch stuck under her car. Jackson, who was driving behind her, noticed the problem and sent her a message offering his help. From that point on, they began messaging more frequently. Jackson often invited Leigh over for dinner, but she politely declined each time. Eventually, she decided to accept, impressed when he prepared a four-course meal paired with wine. Their connection grew naturally from there. In 2023, Jackson took Leigh to the Oyster Festival in her hometown, where he proposed with both of their families present. The moment was made even more meaningful because Leigh had once been crowned Oyster Festival Queen in high school.
the vision: fairy garden picnic
Designed and planned by the bride's company, With Love Weddings and Events, Leigh and Jackson’s wedding had a fresh, feminine feel, evoking the atmosphere of a fairy-garden-inspired picnic. Their three-day celebration gave guests a full weekend away at Twickenham House in Jefferson, North Carolina. The large brick mansion, surrounded by woodlands and a cliffside view, added to the whimsical charm. The ceremony took place with nature as the backdrop, framed by ivory-draped fabrics and greenery arranged along the wooden porch beams. The reception was decked with unique candle holders, bistro lights, and fresh fruit cascading down the tables, adding to the woodland picnic vibe.
the invitations
A sweet array of apricot, blush, robin's egg blue, and peach cards in chic modern silhouettes greeted guests and set the tone for the playful wedding weekend to come.
getting ready
In one of the mansion's well-appointed suites, Leigh stepped into her gown. Her makeup was natural and glowy and she wore blonde hair down in loose waves, pinned back ever so slightly. Accompanied by his mother, Jackson prepped, framed by the rich wood-paneled walls of the billiard room.
the fashion
Leigh wore a modern ballgown with off-the-shoulder pouf sleeves and a flirty oversized bow in her hair, while Jackson donned a tan-colored suit, a botanical-printed tie, and his hair in a long braid. Bridesmaids wore floral print dresses and lace gloves, carrying baskets overflowing with florals by Golden Thistle Design. Leigh gifted each bridesmaid pearl earrings, a nod to the couple’s oyster-infused engagement.
an audio guest book
In lieu of a guest book, guests were invited to leave the couple a voice message on an old-school rotary phone. We are loving the audio guest book trend and we're seeing more and more vendors pop up, so make sure you ask your wedding planner if there's one available for your wedding.
the cake
The couple opted for a simple buttercream frosted cake decorated with live flowers that complemented the rest of the reception decor.
words of wisdom from a wedding pro bride
As an experienced wedding planner, Leigh’s perfectionist mentality went into overdrive, but she ultimately found joy in trusting the process. “On the day of the wedding, I found myself surprisingly relaxed and carefree, not at all stressed about the little things. I was simply present in the moment, surrounded by my loved ones, and able to fully immerse myself in the magic of the celebration.”
