From the Bride: Once upon a time, not so long ago, in a land the groom knew as ‘up north’, and our bride called home, a couple was wed in a big red barn on beautiful Lake Leelanau surrounded by family and close friends. Maggie and Danny’s dream wedding was set in Cedar, Michigan at Crooked Creek Ranch with wedding weekend festivities based in Traverse City.
The theme of the wedding was Country Chic and was inspired by our love for the City we met in, Nashville and our love for the beautiful Northern Michigan wine country. Our colors were Navy and light blue, our favorite color and the color of the beautiful blue Lake Leelanau. The Groom and groomsmen wore sharkskin navy suites and the bridesmaids wore light blue Amsale Nouvelle dresses. We chose a beautiful loose bouquet design filled with white garden roses, white ranunculus’, eucalyptus and soft blue succulents. We felt this floral mixture was whimsical looking with our country chic theme. Hooper Farm Gardens did a fabulous job with making our floral arrangements exactly as we pictured. For boutonnieres, we chose a beautiful white garden rose with green succulent to accent the bridal bouquets.
All the characteristics of a comfortable, sunny summer day graced this September occasion. Having been where the bride and groom first met, and eventually engaged, the wedding was also inspired by the charming city of Nashville. Aside from the working, historic barn and countryside vibes the menu featured a pig roast, plantation style buffet with mac n’ cheese, asparagus and a chocolate chip chiffon cake with buttercream frosting. Married in Michigan’s wine country the couple sourced locally produced whites, reds and sparkling wines for their wedding. All in all the day was everything Maggie and Danny could hope for and they are beyond grateful that Bethany and John could capture their day.
Our first dance was to “Is this love” by, Bob Marley. Jamaica is a special place for both of us. Danny served two years in the Peace Corps in Oracabessa, Jamaica from 2010-2012. We traveled there together after meeting and shared some amazing memories together. Our love for Jamaica only grew. Two weeks before the wedding, the song came on the radio at our friend’s lake house and we knew it was the one.
