From the bride: Me, my bridesmaids, my mother and mother-in-law, my flower girl, and a few other special ladies in my life arrived bright and early to the venue on the morning of, setting up camp in our stunning bridal suite. When we arrived, mimosas and breakfast were already waiting for us. As we sipped and munched, we got pampered by our beauty team. I wore a lace gown covered in floral applique, a garter that my mother had sewn for me, and pearl jewelry that Nick had bought for me.
Our ceremony was held outdoors, in front of a beautiful mint French-inspired gazebo – the archway decorated with beautiful greenery. The aisle was lined with gold lanterns and heirloom lace bows from my groom’s side of the family. The groom and groomsmen wore navy tuxes and pink bowties, and the bridesmaids wore an assortment of gowns – both solids and florals, in various shades of pink.
Our guests headed back to the beautiful veranda and lawn, looking out on to the lake. There, they snapped mini Polaroid photos to leave, along with a note, in our guestbook. We had a few lawn games set up – bean bag toss and giant jenga – and circulated tartlets and empanadas for our guests to nibble on while sipping on our signature cocktails (Moscow Mule for Him, and Mojito for Her), beer and wine. Nick and I snuck away shortly before Cocktail Hour ended, where we were able to enjoy a quiet, private dinner together, before re-joining our guests.
Because so many of our guests came from different places and phases of our life, having a family-style dinner was very important to us. We wanted everyone to be comfortable and get to know each other while sharing and passing good food. And the food was just that! Our menu consisted of a spinach and strawberry salad, artisan breads, beef bourginon, salmon with Italian salsa verde, gilled veggies, cheesy grits with bacon, and chicken nuggets and mac-and-cheese for the little ones.
