bucking tradition

We decided we were going to pick a date, hire a planner, give them our ideas, and let them run with it. That is exactly what we did. Jen Rios was the perfect choice for us as she took our initial vision and turned our “Wedfest” vision in to the best day ever. We gave her a pinterest board and told her if it screamed “traditional wedding “ we don’t want it! She compiled the perfect vendor team that all offered something a bit different and more creative than the usual.

food trucks and lawn games

Following the ceremony, the food trucks and photo wagon opened up. Guests played outdoor games such a giant jenga, cornhole, and horseshoes while others ate and visited with each other. This was also the time that Waine and I got a chance to take in the amazingness that Jen and her team compiled. Everything was perfect. There was an elegant southwestern festival theme through out the entire space that just fit perfectly with who we were and what we liked right down to the smallest details.

informal ceremony

Jen found the perfect venue for us, Heart of the Ranch in Fort Worth. It was so perfect that we even changed our original set date to have it there. It was completely outdoors with 100 year old trees and café lights strung through out all the trees. They often held festivals there, so we knew we could have our own “Wedfest” there. The day of Wedfest started with one of our favorite local bands, Whiskey River Ramblers. We then had our informal ceremony performed by my father, where he shared stories; we shared vows, and then opened the floor for others to share their advice on a successful marriage.

keep your night going!

A lot of guests danced along with the band while others participated in the photo wagon and roasted s’mores at the fire pits. The headliner of the night was Zane Williams who was a crowd favorite with his interactive songs coming down from the stage and singing with guests. The night ended with Waine taking the stage again and thanking everyone for being there and letting everyone know that we would be continuing the night at our favorite dive bar because that is just totally us!

best decision? hiring a videographer!

It may not be right for everyone, but we feel one of our best decisions was hiring a videographer. Hiring a good photographer is very important but the video just captures the moment in a completely different way. We are obsessed with our wedding film. See the wonderful video below, filmed by Owl & Tree Wedding Films.
