When Matthew and Jessica began envisioning their wedding, they knew they wanted it to reflect them, and everything they loved, but most of all they wanted a no-fuss, semi-traditional wedding. They both planned the entire event, from invitations, to linens, to songs, which ended up making the day that much more special. You can see more of this no-fuss semi traditional wedding in the full gallery here. All captured by Brett Heidebrecht.
From Jessica-We had the bridesmaids choose their own dresses (as close to mint as possible) in order to show each of their personal styles as well as to give the bridal party a more relaxed feel. We wanted the details to mix a rustic, vintage vibe and the use of iron bird cages, wood slabs, vintage books and a lot of lace helped achieve just that.
Thankfully, my florist had most of the vintage items available for my use, so scouring at antique stores and flea markets was one less hassle, especially since I was studying for my nursing boards at the same time as wedding planning! I knew I wanted the flowers to be colorful with a lot of different textures and personality and was blown away by the final product. They really helped put the final touches on the whole day and set the tone for a happy, playful wedding.
Camp Loughridge is a Christian summer camp in west Tulsa with a beautiful chapel that sits inside the woods beside a lake. We knew it was the perfect venue because not only was it right down the road from the home I grew up in, it encompassed our love for the outdoors as well as the importance of our faith. Everything else sort of developed from there. We wanted the aesthetic to feel natural and have the main feature be our love for each other and the commitment we were making.
Leading up to the day of the wedding I was a bit weary of what the weather may bring especially for August in Oklahoma. To our surprise, the whole day was a beautiful mid-80's, as opposed to the usual 110's, which made the day even more perfect than I had imagined. We had been worried for our guests that would be sitting on the outdoor patio section at the reception so we had invested in fans to surround the area, but by the time the sun had set, most people wanted to turn them off!
Looking back I can honestly say it was the best day of my life and I'm so thankful to have such beautiful photographs from Brett Heidebrecht Photography that enable me to relive every moment. The entire day was a dream and I wouldn't have changed a single thing about it.
