Romantic New Orleans Wedding: Music, Love & DIY Details

Elegant bride and groom embrace under a lace umbrella

Brian is a pianist, and music became the theme which weaved its way throughout this music loving New Orleans wedding.
Brian and Jen had taken a trip to New Orleans before and fell in love with the romance of the city. They had told each other then that if ever they were to get married, New Orleans was where it would take place, and it did! Music is a huge part of their lives, Brian is a pianist. Jen made all the bridesmaid bouquets and boutonnieres herself out of old sheets of music Brian had at his apartment. How amazing! All their details were so personal, and I loved that! They made sure to have a second line band, per New Orleans tradition, and it perfectly complemented their wedding. To top it off, after all the dancing, the night ended with Brian taking a turn at the piano and singing with his band. It was really amazing, and definitely a one of a kind wedding!

New Orleans destination

Brian and I had a whirlwind courtship. We fell hard and fast for each other and I knew immediately Brian was the man for me. A year and a half after our first date, Brian set up a beautiful proposal at the Strathmore in Maryland, full of music and thoughtful details, all of which took me completely by surprise. And just a short time afterward, our dream of having an intimate destination wedding in one of our favorite cities came true.  We were happy to be surrounded by those we cherished most, celebrating with amazing music, delicious food, laughter and love.

go the extra mile

Honestly, not sure I would have done anything differently! My advice to other brides would be: Don't hesitate to go the extra mile to put in the little DIY details to make the day personal and even more special! That being said, know your limitations and don't be afraid to ask for help! Planning a destination wedding was tricky and required a lot of planning and everything didn't always worked out as anticipated. I'm thankful to everyone for lending a hand, from my in-laws who drove decorations purchased ahead of time from DC to Indiana to New Orleans, and to the wedding party who we sent on several last minute errands during our wedding weekend. Our wedding was truly a team effort!
