Mountain-top Wedding With A View To Live For

For this Australian couple, their wedding literally came down to the last possible moment with COVID restrictions lifting on midnight the night before their wedding! Thankfully, their vendors were on their game and everything was ready to go at a moment's notice. Their misty mountain venue was the perfect, secluded location for this intimate wedding. Neutral shades of tan, cream, black, and a hint of blush make this wedding completely timeless. And these toffee-colored, midi-length bridesmaids' dresses are so something that they can wear again–seriously though!

You can see all of the joy on everyone's faces and the love in their eyes in these candid photos by Lauren Anne Photography. This Couple always knew they wanted to get married in Hunter Valley, and Spicers Guesthouse Pokolbin and White Barn Pokolbin couldn't have fit their vision more perfectly! Once the COVID restrictions were lifted, it was time to celebrate like there was no tomorrow, and La Lune was there to catch it all on video. PERFECT TIMING

Mountain-top Wedding With A View To Live For

It was a weekend our guests described as magical. Set in the heart of the Hunter Valley, with vines and misty mountains as our backdrop, it was the wedding of our dreams that we nearly didn't have. We love the Hunter Valley–we both grew up there and aesthetically it’s just gorgeous. So it was a natural fit when we landed on Spicers Guesthouse Pokolbin as 'the one', only a month after our engagement on Hayman Island. That was when COVID hit. After 12 months of “will this or won’t this happen”, the day before our wedding the restrictions eased! We were so appreciative the universe was on our side and didn’t take a minute of the weekend for granted.

"SHOWER, SHAVE, AND SUIT UP"

Mountain-top Wedding With A View To Live For

The wedding morning arrived, and I was in hair and makeup for six hours with the amazing New Black Industries and Kylie Edwards. Meanwhile, Jacob spent those hours golfing with his groomsmen, followed by thirty minutes of ‘shower, shave, and suit up’. Ahhh, to be a boy. I wore a Corston Couture dress. I loved the beadwork of the dress, the 'transparent' features where you could slightly see skin, and the romantic flowers that were almost 3D on the dress. Coral, the designer was amazing to work with and it was a no-brainer for me. The dress fit me like a glove. Jacob wore a made-to-measure suit from Oscar Hunt. We spent ages searching for an ivory wool that would match my wedding dress (who knew there were 3 billion shades of white/ivory haha). Jacob knew he wanted to mix it up from the traditional suit, but still keeping a formal, classy look. He did a bow tie and a black shiny, patent leather shoe to finish off his look.

KEEPING IT TOGETHER

Mountain-top Wedding With A View To Live For

For our ceremony, we wanted to find that perfect balance of romance and fun, which our celebrant, That Altar Guy, nailed. I’m quite emotional, so I wanted to make sure there were some lighter moments in there so I could re-gather if I needed. We did personal vows which was one of the most special parts of our day, and according to our celebrant, I kept it together better than most of our guests.

READY...SET...PARTY

Our reception was held at the spectacular White Barn Pokolbin. It was a blank canvas to which we could add our own style and flair. Belinda from The Curated Life brought our vision to life with a color scheme of floaty whites, golds, toffee tones, and neutrals with a mixture of roses and orchids and vintage glassware. For stationery, we chose arch menus from State Of ElliotBilly Goat Catering served up the most delicious, restaurant-quality meals, he was amazing! With dance restrictions easing midnight the night before our wedding, the party was on! Master Blaster  kept our guests entertained the whole night. My dad and I even broke into a rap at one point, rewriting the lyrics to 'Rich Girl' by Selwyn (our favorite song). The night was a raging success!

WORDS OF WISDOM

Mountain-top Wedding With A View To Live For

Our biggest words of wisdom would be to pretend the wedding is three weeks earlier than it is, and get all your jobs done. We did this ourselves and are so grateful we did. We were so relaxed heading into the wedding week, and were able to get reasonable sleep and just get excited! We took off a few days before the wedding too, which I think is a great idea. Good luck future brides and grooms, we hope you loved the experience as much as we did!
