When these two decided to tie the knot, they knew they wanted something a little outside the norm, and they had one big request–they wanted to see snow for the first time. Being from Texas, Courtlyn and Wade had never seen the white glow of a fresh snowfall, and neither had their kids, so they crossed their fingers and hoped that Mother Nature would grant their wish for their micro-wedding in Angel Fire, New Mexico...and she did, BIG TIME! The timing couldn't have worked out better, the day before their wedding a blizzard came through, covering the entire mountain venue with fresh powdery snow that made for the most epic photos and winter activities. From the fur coat and Stetson to the fringe leather jacket and flower crown, this wedding also has some impressive fashion moments that set it apart from your typical winter wedding.

Courtlyn and Wade have known each other since high school but didn't get together until a few years after graduation. Once they hit it off, the rest was history. They have three children and when Wade proposed they decided they wanted something intimate, and they wanted snowy mountains! They are from Texas and landed on coming to Angel Fire, New Mexico with their immediate families to celebrate and see snow for the first time. Once they decided on the area, planning began with a little over a month until the big day.
They wanted a wooden arch for their ceremony, so they built one to bring along. The day of their elopement was beautiful and sunny with lots of snow on the ground. The day prior a huge blizzard came through, so we got really lucky! Their day consisted of a first look, a quick intimate ceremony, popping champagne, eating cake, sledding, and reading letters to each other. They each wrote a letter that they read while they were getting ready but decided to also read them to each other privately. This part of their day was so intimate and special.
1. If you have children that you are bringing to your intimate wedding, having someone to look after them is ideal so the two of you can really have the day be about you.
2. Your day doesn’t have to be structured 100%. A timeline is great to have, but don’t be afraid to be spontaneous and have fun.
3. If you are getting married in the snow (especially if it's your first time seeing snow) wear proper footwear!
