the proposal

champagne toast photo for wedding

The Marrens' proposal took place on Sullivan's Island while they were in town visiting Allie's parents who live in Mount Pleasant. They took a bike ride down the beach that eventually turned into a walk along the water and Robby got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Allie's parents and the couple's dog, Winnie, were present to share this special moment with them.

the design: elevated garden party

pastel wedding inspiraiton

According to Classic Planning and Design Co., the overall vision for The Marrens' day was elevated garden party. Their goal was for Allie and Robby's guests to be immersed in the beauty of the springtime in Charleston underneath the sailcloth tent in the beautiful Gibbes Museum garden. We filled the space with pastel tones, vibrant florals, patterns, and textures. The term that they coined for this couple's day was 'Spring Soiree' and that is exactly what it became.

As Allie and Robby's guests arrived at Gibbes, they were greeted with passed hors d'oeuvres and specialty cocktails. The Marrens' specialty drink menu included the following libations: A Spicy Margarita with a salt rim topped with a jalapeño garnish, A Charleston Spritz complete with a lemon wheel garnish, and a Strawberry Lemonade mocktail with a lemon wheel garnish over ice. Following cocktail hour, Allie and Robby invited their guests to join them for a plated dinner. First, their guests enjoyed the signature 'Rosemary and Rye' salad complete with local greens, candied pecans, strawberries, goat cheese crumbles, and balsamic vinaigrette. The entree course was a dual plate petite filet mignon and crab cake served with roasted broccolini and garlic mashed potatoes. One of the groom's, favorite sweet treats is chocolate chip cookies. Once we discovered this, our team and The Marrens decided that it was a must to pass cookies and espresso martini shooters for guests to enjoy as a pick-me-up as they danced the night away.

The tabletop decor consisted of patterned green linens from Stradley Davidson and Luxe Linens, hand-stitched napkins delicately sewn by the groom's mother, woven chargers, blue striped dinner plates, and clear flatware all from Emerson James Rentals, watercolor menus by Laura Adison Designs, vibrant florals by Festoon, and pressed flower tapered candles from Etsy. Each piece on Allie and Robby's tabletop was carefully selected to encompass their wedding vision and boy did these pieces come together beautifully!

yellow reception dress

The bride, Allie, REALLY understood the assignment when it came to her dress change. As guests began to make their way to the dance floor, Allie popped inside for a quick outfit change and re-entered the reception space in her white and yellow floral stunner of a dress from Markarian NYC. The white bows on the straps were the cherry on top of it all. Hands down our favorite outfit change of the Spring season. We love something outside of the box like this and she looked absolutely stunning.
