In a time where people are hosting weddings in nearly any type of venue imaginable— from rooftops to mountaintops, wine cellars to cavernous cenotes— creating a unique space for your wedding can feel like a daunting task. This wedding inspo proves that even a somewhat simple industrial space can be transformed into a jaw-dropping, intimate, and personal backdrop for a wedding with the right details! Nouvelle Weddings elevated the concept of modern romance at a new venue in Maryland, The Loom, with a bold color palette, overstated florals, a charming tower of signature cocktails, and a sleek tablescape design. Never underestimate the power of an incredible floral designer! Turning a white industrial space into a floral heaven will transport guests to an almost magical setting. Floral designer, Victoria Clausen, took this bold and colorful palette and completely transformed the venue with a wandering floor-to-ceiling floral corner that created a sense of intimacy. It framed tablescapes and set the tone of a modern romance. It's important to note that because this installation made such a statement, other floral components could be more minimalistic.
Victoria carried the modern romantic energy throughout the venue with additional whimsical floral arrangements that both framed the ceremony setup and lined the aisle. In combination with the glow of the candlelight, the space felt warm and sophisticated, with rentals featured from Something Vintage, Select Event Group, and BBJ La Tavola.
Even the spaces that seem the most simplistic had a backstory, and highlighting components of a venue’s history adds authenticity and a jumping off point for design inspiration. To lean into the history of the Loom in Baltimore, the designers highlighted a variety of textiles throughout the design. They created a bespoke ceremony backdrop of ribbon in cool, colorful tones to create a dimensional focal point that tied into the history of textiles.
The teal velvet linens and velvet chairs added another element of textiles, and the design was topped off with menus by River and Bridge printed on silk. Including a modern cake from Anika Bushra Cakes featuring flowing ribbons was the final nod to the textile history of the venue.
Adding layers of texture to a wedding design is a sure way to elevate the overall feel, especially in locations that may feel plain otherwise! Floral designer Victoria brought in various layers of texture with her robust installations and through the selection of florals, including gorgeous, fringed tulips. The tablescape featured iridescent, scalloped chargers paired with silk menus and modern gold-and-Lucite flatware.
Floral arrangements repurposed from the ceremony site framed the table, while layers of bud vases and small arrangements ran the length of the table at varying levels. The ceremony setup was also repurposed as a cake backdrop, where the textured ribbons on the cake stood out against the ribbon backdrop. The ribbed coup glasses on the signature lavender cocktail added an extra soft punch of texture as well to ensure that no detail was left out.
