From the bride:

We are an urban couple, and wanted our wedding to reflect that. There was no question as to what venue we would choose; the Space Gallery is not only gorgeous, but it is two blocks from our house. We love our neighborhood, and really wanted the event to feel like "home." After the ceremony, in our bridal shots, we loved that we were able to highlight some of the awesome graffiti art that is a part of our neighborhood. We had a loose theme of "literature meets music," as Tristan was an English undergrad major, and I was an opera undergrad major. We incorporated lots of little diy details to reflect this, like using vintage book paper to make the escort cards for Tristan's guests, and vintage sheet music for my guests, and repeated that theme on the bird cake topper that I made.

We made all of the plate chargers for our guests out of vintage vinyl records. Not only were they a great touch, but it was a fun surprise to watch our guests all turn their records over to see what album they "got" and talk about it! We also made custom table skirts for the food, drink, and wedding party tables, with quotes from literature and music screenprinted on them.

Our wedding was an awesome collaboration of friends and family. We self-catered, and our food was a collection of family recipes made with love. Our cake, which was four tiers, and four amazing flavors, was made by my sister, who is an aspiring baker. Our officiant was a friend of Tristan's family.Take note of how the couple put kraft paper as the runners down on the table and planned to make them into their guest books. A clever note was placed on each table that said, "Our table runner is our guest book, make your mark." Clever .... right?

Steal Worthy Advice From The Bride:

We had a long time to prepare for our wedding, and learned some lessons along the way. The number one thing I can say is this: choose your vendors wisely, and do your due diligence. We LOVED most of our vendors, including the amazing Mary and Joel of Blue Window Creative, and Scot and Sean at Alan Perry Floral & Event Design, but we had a really bad experience with our day-of coordinator, who didn't even show up the day of, or call to let us know. Of all of our vendors, she was the one that we didn't feel right about in our "gut," and we should have trusted it.
Also, when setting up and getting ready, give yourself more time than you think you will need...you usually end up using it!

More than anything, we loved that our celebration felt like "us." Not too formal, fun, with lots of great music and dancing! Sure, things went wrong (lots of things), but in the end, we had a blast, and so did our guests.
