We are serving up a fresh plate of mint and peach wedding cuteness today with Elizabeth and Justin's wedding at the Columbus Cultural Arts Center!
Did we mention it is filled to the brim with steal worthy ideas? For example, the peach tulle and lace bridesmaid dresses, coffee and donuts instead of a classic cake, and one cute bride and groom. All captured by Jessica Love Photography. Be sure to keep reading to hear more from the bride and get some great wedding advice!
The girl's dresses were a mixture of bottom skirt from Alexandra Grecco and top from Express. The bridal party, friends, and family of the bride and groom worked to turn the dinner space into a farm table style set up after the ceremony.
From Jessica Love Photography:Elizabeth and Justin had a true DIY wedding at the Cultural Arts Center in Columbus. As the photographer, I had a special attention to detail here, my Mom (Sue Love) was in charge of the flowers (it's just a hobby!), and my sister (Carlyn Love) is the pregnant bridesmaid, who made all the place settings. The flowers were just the piece that made the night so magical...and the colorblock vases...and the twinkle lights!
Spray painted milk glasses make for an easy wedding centerpiece.
From the Bride:Do your best to have all DIY projects complete, all plans finalized, and lists made etc. with at least a week to spare. We were still running around the day before and went into the wedding day very stressed. (As soon as the day's events began, though, there was a sudden peace and it was great from there on out!) It's important to take time for yourself in those last few days, relax, get sleep, and focus on YOU. I wish that we had planned a bit better so that the days before were not stressful.
Ask for help. As DIYers, we were really trying to do it ourselves, and only ourselves, for a long while. Eventually, we had to ask for help, but I wish we'd done it sooner. Everyone was so kind and helpful and seemed genuinely happy to be part of the day. It was difficult to give up some of that control, but if you have set tasks for helpful friends and family, it can be a life-saver! Our wedding went as well as it did because of lots of help from an amazing group of people.
Every last detail does NOT have to look like something from Pinterest! Pick the things that are important to you and that you really really like, and focus on those, rather than spreading yourself too thin, thinking about every detail. Be willing to do things differently and make the day what YOU want it to be!
Make sure you get a great photographer. The day goes by so quickly and it will feel like a blur by the end. It's so wonderful to have awesome photographs to look at again and again and relive the day, a little more slowly.
