What does an American Aussie wedding look like? A little bit natural woodsy, a whole lot of hand made beauty with a sprinkle of boho chic, or at least that's how Kristy and Sam's Minnesota intimate spring wedding turned out. And we can tell you right now, we LOVED it! Be sure to see all of the details captured by Brooke Michaelson Photography by visiting the full gallery too.
You can recreate Kristy's beautiful boho bouquet by using the following fresh flowers: Garden Roses, Peonies, Freesia, Spray Roses, Hypericum Berries, Feverfew, Queen Anne’s Lace, Crespedia (also known as, Billy Balls), Ranunculus and touches of Baby's Breath.
From the Bride:We first met in 2006 in Australia; during the college semester I studied abroad. Sam went to the same school and we met through mutual friends on campus. Shortly after we met, I realized Sam and I actually had a communication studies class together...but I'd never seen him in class before - probably because he rarely to never attended!
Needless to say, after we started seeing each other he had perfect attendance!
The ceremony took place in our Plan B location. It was supposed to be an outdoor ceremony taking place along the lake, but the previous night and that morning's torrential downpour made our planned ceremony location a washout. It was still cool! Sam and I actually wrote the whole thing together, we wrote it to suit us perfectly; and my brother in law officiated.
Since we wanted to keep our day intimate, we had 55 guests - which was absolutely the perfect size! We also wanted to keep the day personal and low key, so we wrote our own ceremony, my brother in law officiated, the bridesmaids picked their own dresses, my dad MC'd and most of the decor was DIY/homemade.If you love this cute little thumbprint tree you can download your own for free by visiting the Wedding Chicks Free Printables page. With many of the grooms family and our mutual Aussie friends traveling half way across the globe and all the way to MN - we wanted them to see the heart of the state and experience all of the natural beauty Minnesota has to a offer. What a better way than to tuck ourselves "up north" for a lakeside wedding.
I wanted a mixture of treats that suited everyone, because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE sweets and I never want to be limited to just one! I also wanted to incorporate some Aussie delights so I had lamingtons (an Aussie dessert staple) and sugar cookies in the shape of the USA and AUS. Plus I also love ribbons - hence the ribbon wall!
