Peggy and Takis, a vibrant couple from Athens, have a deep-rooted love for Kythira Island, making it the perfect location for their dream wedding. Takis has been visiting Kythira every year since childhood, feeling a profound sense of home each time he arrives. Peggy first visited the island with friends before meeting Takis, and after their relationship blossomed, it became their shared tradition to spend their summers on Kythira. When Takis proposed, it was a given that their wedding would take place on this beloved island. After the proposal, the couple embarked on a journey to explore Kythira's picturesque villages and significant landmarks, searching for the perfect venue to host their celebration. They were captivated by the island’s virgin beauty and charming spots.
Peggy envisioned a lush and chic atmosphere for their wedding, combining the vibrant yellow of lemons and flowers by Fleur Du Jour with elegant white and blue details. The white and blue china set the tone and completed the theme, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the celebration.
Her dream dress, a handmade masterpiece of French lace by Made Bride by Antonea, reflected her sophisticated taste. For makeup and hair, Peggy opted for a simple yet stunning look, enhancing her natural beauty on her special day.
Peggy and Takis' wedding day was marked by unique and unforgettable elements that highlighted the island's rich history and natural beauty. The ceremony was held at a beautiful and very old church in the historical castle on the island which added a sense of timeless romance to the event.
The reception took place at the Windmill Resort, a gorgeous hotel known for its enchanting windmill, which served as the focal point of the celebration. Guests were treated to the island’s delicious cuisine and explored its stunning beaches and landmarks, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Thoughtful wedding favors, inspired by local traditions and the island's charm, added a personal touch, making Peggy and Takis' wedding a memorable celebration for everyone involved.
As a local wedding planner, my advice to couples considering Kythira for their wedding is to visit the island a year in advance. This allows ample time to explore and select an ideal venue that aligns with their vision, as the island, while breathtaking, is not yet fully developed for weddings. Despite this, Kythira offers unique beaches, incredible food, and numerous hidden gems, providing an unforgettable experience for couples and their guests.
