After meeting at 18 years old and dating for 5 years, Garrison planned quite the surprise proposal for Lauren in June of 2021. Because Lauren is a Lead Wedding Planner for Events by Elle, Garrison knew he had to plan a clever proposal! Lauren had mentioned that she loved the wooden beams, tall ceilings, arches, stained glass, and overall architecture Oakwood Country Club had to offer, so Garrison asked one of their dearest friends who had recently gotten engaged to have Lauren go on a venue tour of Oakwood with her, pretending that she was interested in getting married there. Little did Lauren know, she was walking into her own proposal!
From that day on, Lauren and Garrison knew that they were going to ultimately have their wedding at Oakwood Country Club. Just a week later, they booked their wedding date for November of 2022. Once the had their date secured, the couple quickly selected their vendor dream team and categorized their priorities for the day! Lauren LOVES florals, so her vision was a whimsical, romantic, and garden-inspired wedding. Her floral must-haves were orchids, sweat peas, and reflux roses. She wanted the bouquets to be a blend of white and color, foregoing any greenery. The bridesmaid bouquets all had the opposite color of ribbon from each of their dresses, so if one bridesmaid was wearing an English rose dress, they had a pink champagne ribbon on their bouquet and vice versa. Lauren - of course - had both colors in her bouquet.
Her Jenny Yoo Dahlia bridesmaid dresses were actually the driving force behind several details throughout their wedding. The pattern of the dress matched the two Lillian West dresses that Lauren picked for herself. The color of the Jenny Yoo dress also became the main color of the day. Although the couple incorporated additional colors, including: English rose, pink champagne, terracotta, dusty rose, and taupe, with white and gold accents.

From there, Lauren found the Luisa Vanilla linen and courtyard persimmon linen from BBJ La Tavola. She even tied a similar pattern into the graphics of their wedding invitation suite and table numbers. We'd be remiss not to mention that the bride actually designed her own graphics for all of the stationery! Their invitations were custom designed with the envelope liner being a watercolor rendering of Oakwood designed by Yellowbrick Graphics. The rest of the invitation suite was printed and torn by hand by the bride herself.
From there, they really explored their additional details. They made their own welcome sign, bar signage, seating chart, and gift table sign. These were all shaped to match the arches at the venue itself. The couple values personalized touches and truly wanted their guests to feel as though their presence was so appreciated. They ultimately wanted the wedding day to be an amazing day not just for them, but for each and every guest there as well!
For the wedding cake, Blue Thistle Cakes hand-painted each petal and leaf. She even went to the extent to make a custom flavor for the couple and incorporated the torn edges from the stationery into the cake edges! It's easy to see throughout all of the pictures that each and every detail was accounted for on this incredible day!
