After getting engaged in the summer of 2022 on Nantucket off the coast of Massachusetts, Jen and Andrew knew immediately that they wanted to have a classic, coastal wedding. After doing some research and spending time in different areas, they settled on Balboa Bay Resort in Newport Beach, Southern California. They made sure to weave this coastal ethos into all elements of their September wedding. Jen worked closely with wedding planner Candice of Engaged Events to find an absolute dream vendor team who executed her vision (all captured by photographer Stefani Welsh) and were a joy to work with.
Jen visited a few dress stores in the LA area before deciding on a Martina Liana dress (Style # 1510) from Lili Bridals. It can definitely be hard getting your wedding dress before knowing exactly what your full wedding vibe will be, so Jen wanted something versatile enough that could be formal and elegant, but still have that coastal California relaxed undertone that she knew she was going for. She was able to really customize the bodice of the dress, as well as the detailing on the sides. Jen also ended up purchasing her from Lili Bridals, with beaded detailing that complemented her dress.
After initially feeling overwhelmed, Jen selected Jenny Yoo Collection dresses from Bella Bridesmaids after reading about them on Wedding Chicks! Her bridesmaids were conveniently able to go to the store closest to them to be fitted.
Elegant by Design created an aisle for Jen and Andrew's ceremony entirely made out of delicate white flower petals, complemented by the low all-white floral arrangements that lined the aisle. These flowers and petals also matched the lush, white, square installation at the outdoor altar.
Champagne was an integral element of Jen and Andrew’s entire wedding celebration from the very beginning. When Jen asked her bridesmaids to be in her wedding, she created custom mini Clicquot labels for champagne bottles in her bridesmaid proposal box. At the wedding, the couple had a champagne escort seating chart with custom gold drink tags and mini sailboats. Later in the event, they had a 9-tier champagne tower adorned with white flowers, and they even had a hand-painted Clicquot bottle, commissioned and hand painted by an artist with their wedding logo and hydrangeas that they displayed at the wedding.

Jen absolutely loves desserts and has always enjoyed a good wedding cake, so having a cake that everyone could enjoy was very important to her. The couple had a 4-tier cake from SusieCakes with white vanilla buttercream frosting, and each cake layer was a different flavor (including red velvet, marble, and vanilla).
"Wedding Chicks was such a great resource for me during my planning phase because when I was trying to confirm some of the other vendors to use (like the one for hair and makeup for my bridesmaids) I saw Flawless Faces in different posts, so it made me feel even more confident seeing different examples of their work. Wedding Chicks was also so helpful in allowing me to hone the exact vibe I wanted. It was so easy to just search 'coastal wedding inspiration!' It really helped me communicate my vision to my vendors."
"Planning a wedding and being able to marry your best friend is truly one of the most special moments of all time - savor it and never lose track of what your initial vision was when you set out to marry your partner! Throughout the process, we often looked through our initial notes on photography style, design, and general vibe so that we didn’t stray from what we knew we wanted. There are so many inspirational sites and ideas out there for every element of wedding planning these days (which can be so helpful), but this can also be challenging if you have trouble being decisive, so always stick with what you initially envisioned!"
