Lovely Kentucky Wedding

This lovely farm, tucked away in the foothills of Kentucky, was the perfect haven for a classic Southern Wedding. With multiple barns for entertaining, gorgeous green hills in the distance, and the shy, but still stubborn billy goats that roam the fields (one refused to let us cross over a tiny bridge to get back to the main house!), no one would ever believe this quiet spot was 20 minutes from the main city. Neltner Farm, a true working farm, selling produce from it's road-side stand and at local farmers markets all throughout the area, inspired us to create a shoot from literally showcasing the fruits (and veggies!) of the earth.
Many of the flowers were grown locally at a neighboring farm, the produce was all grown within a stone's throw of the property and the jellies that doubled as favors were made by the Mama of the farm from a family recipe passed down from generation to generation. The pies were made by a neighboring farm owner, Little Rock Farm, and were baked fresh that morning (Bonus is we all got to take some home after the shoot!) and the home brew was brewed right up the street by one of Mama's boys. So often, true Southern weddings incorporate the community in which the wedding resides, a tradition that is far too many times overlooked and in getting back to our roots and why we love these down-home, charming weddings, we find where our hearts find happiness. Knowing so much love has gone into the preparations for the day makes a girl's heart skip a beat with happiness. A farm-to-fork feast, a wide open sky void of anything but the stars and beautiful earth for as far as the eye can see. That's a true Southern wedding.
