Locally Sourced Charleston Wedding

burlap bunting

Sourcing your wedding locally has many advantages, and one of the biggest is supporting your local economy. This was very important to our next couple, from their flowers to serving a local beer, Adrienne and David tried to source as local as possible to keep their wedding a hometown affair. Read on to see how they did this, plus read their full budget breakdown which is always great to see.
They started things off right by hiring Blue Planet Green Events who believes that elegance, sophistication, and style need not be compromised to be eco-conscious. We love that ... don't you? words from the vendors

From Blue Planet Green Events:Adrienne and David have a deep love for the outdoors and they wanted to make sure that their wedding reflected their values. Everything from the Coastal Crust beer truck serving up handcrafted, local brews to the flowers designed by Blue Planet Green Events (BPGE) and sourced from local farms; everything that could be local was.

The ceremony design featured BPGE’s hand-made wooden chuppah with local greenery and flowers. Atop the chuppah laid a prayer shawl that has been in the bride’s family for generations. Along the aisle hung mercury glass jars overflowing with local blooms

tying the knot

Adrienne and David wanted a simple, elegant, and fun environment for their guests. The antique beer truck showcased by beautiful café lighting and farm-style pub tables certainly set the stage and the band Two 3 Ways kept people on the dance floor all night.

Mosaic Catering offered a Lowcountry-style menu with their famous mac and cheese bar, slider station, and coastal station.

The reception design incorporated succulents, local, in-season flowers, mercury glass, and romantic lighting such as candlelight and chandeliers. In keeping with the couple’s eco-friendly ideals, all food and flowers were composted and all else recycled thanks to FWD (Food Waste Disposal).

advice from the bride

My biggest piece of advice for future brides is two fold. First, find an advocate to make sure your voice is heard during the planning process and on your wedding day. Whether that person is a sister, a friend, your mother, your fiance or a professional wedding planner it's important to find that person to help you speak up to make sure your wedding dream comes true.

The second is don't skimp on photography! Find a photographer that jives with your budget & personality. After it's all said and done, all you have left is your memories and photos (and lots and lots of love!) We love our photographs so much!
