Rather than tying the knot in the northern wilderness, this Canadian couple were destined to say "I Do" in the arid atmosphere of Las Vegas, Nevada. With the help of Scheme Events, Ruth and David had the destination wedding of their dreams — starting with a fun, fresh photo shoot in the Las Vegas desert followed by a beautiful ceremony and reception at The Springs Preserve.
Read on to hear so much more from Ruth about their special day, especially their full budget breakdown. Head to the full gallery here to peruse more of this desert destination wedding, all beautifully captured by Gaby J Photography.
From Gaby J Photography:Ruth and David are from Canada and held their beautiful destination wedding in Las Vegas, NV with many friends and family from back home. Ruth wanted to keep things simplistic with a desert, eco-friendly charm that went perfect with Nevada's Springs Preserve where they held their wedding at.
The Springs Preserve is a 180-acre attraction in Las Vegas, featuring botanical gardens, museums and plenty of space to hold an eco-friendly wedding. This Las Vegas wedding venue is committed to serving as a living exhibit for sustainability practices. They will help you make your special day "green" with everything from your choice of flowers to details of the ceremony and limousine service. Do you love?
From the Bride:On the large scale, we would have done absolutely nothing different! It's all about the way you approach the day. If you're a worrier and stress no matter what, you will not be able to control everything. Things happen you just have to roll with the punches and know that at the end of the day you'll be married and you'll remember the feelings you felt during the day more than the little things that went wrong.
From Scheme Events:Wine corks held each guests place cards up that lead them to their table numbers spelled out with scrabble letters. The Gardens Terrace at Springs Preserve is such a beautiful space that it speaks for itself and needs minimal decor, but with just the simplest floral and upgraded linens, this room really makes you say, “wow.”
Budget is important. What's important is to pinpoint a few categories that as a couple you want to spend more money on in order to host a wedding that represents your style and ideal celebration. We placed importance on photography, food/alcohol and DJ. We looked for a photographer with an artistic flare that went beyond the rigid family wedding photos tying in the scenery with the emotions of the day. Gaby J blew us away! The food and alcohol matched perfectly to our overall desire to keep the evening casual giving our guests many choices and opportunities to mix and mingle. Our venue provided amazing pairings for food and alcohol! We wanted our wedding to be a party as we're not huge fans of traditional wedding music. DJ Harry O tapped into our love of old school hip hop and RnB and kept the dance floor full all night!

Our day would not have been as smooth if it weren't for the help of the amazing girls of Scheme Events. Much love! Greatest budgeting advice: Don't forget to set aside budget for incidentals as they always come up and are impossible to avoid.
