We live in Denver, CO and had already rented an airbnb in Ouray, CO for our "mini moon" but when our plans changed we decided to elope out there instead.
Our photographers came and stayed with us at the airbnb and documented 3 days of joy. I talked to my florist and we came up with a new idea for a big wild bouquet and greenery crown which came out better than I could have dreamed.
My husband and I have been together over 7 years, and had planned on a big wedding in early June, but when the virus hit it made us reconsider those plans. To be honest, we're adventurous people so the decision we made wasn't a hard one- we opted to postpone the big reception to next year, but still enjoy an intimate adventure elopement in the mountains with our dogs and photographers.
Our dogs are our children, so we were so happy they were able to be a part of our entire weekend. One of my favorite moments was dancing to our song "Real Love Baby" by Father John Misty and having our "first dance" in a field of wildflowers. I also enjoyed having some "us" time at Yankee Boy Basin after our ceremony, walking around with our backpacks, popping a bottle of champagne by the waterfall. We ended the weekend paddle boarding at Ridgway State Park and signed our marriage license there at sunset. The entire weekend felt so "us"- more than the big wedding would have. We missed having our friends and family there, but we believe everything happens for a reason, and are glad we got to share this intimate weekend.
We knew we also wanted to go to Yankee Boy Basin, as we had been there before when we climbed our 2nd 14'er. Our photographers got there so we decided to drive up a nearby pass and enjoy the sunset. The airbnb property was on a river and beautiful! So the morning of our wedding we enjoyed coffee by the river, and did "the first look" there too, before we headed off to Last Dollar Rd & Yankee Boy Basin.
This couple was gracious enough to share their wedding budget with us. This is a unique budget for Kayla and Keith so keep in mind there are many factors the go into determining the cost for your wedding and prices can fluctuate greatly depending on the specific details of your wedding.
