Isn't Southern California great? We have fantastic weather, a variety of great places to play, and sandy beaches in the summer and snow-capped mountains in the winter...it's a bit of paradise, really. So who wouldn't want to get married around here? Perhaps the hardest part is choosing just one perfect venue to serve as the backdrop to your special day.
Some venues offer a bit of everything we love about the area, such as natural green space, colorful buildings for a bit of that urban feel, and an indoor space that is basically a blank canvas so you can create your own special day. The University Club at the University of California, Irvine is like that, and one of our couples chose this all-in-one facility to hold their wedding ceremony (outside under a gazebo) as well as reception (inside the decorated hall).
One standout feature of the University Club is the special events coordinator Cindy, who is super helpful and easy to work with. In our case, in addition to keeping things moving along all night, she helped assemble the masses for a final sendoff that featured a bridge of sparklers for the bride and groom's grand escape. The grounds offer a variety of lush, green backgrounds as well as more urban brick walkways and textured buildings, perfect for portraits.
And if you book this venue, here's one great tip to make the reception hall shine...be sure to order several uplights to line the columns along the walls. The walls at the University Club are normally white, but a little color will go a long way picking up any color schemes you may have chosen for your big day. Diana and Phil chose purple, and the color made their dancing photos pop!
