The Perfect Day

Lily and Roy’s Portland Oregon wedding was such a wonderful celebration. The couple came in from Los Angeles and spent a couple of weeks in town with 50 of their closest friends and family.

“We wanted a mixture of nature and urban,” said Lilly. “Roy is a city boy and I’m a nature lover. A nature ceremony and industrial reception was a perfect fit.” Lily described the day as; “the best day of our lives. We were blown away by how much love was shown to us. All the details were perfect and very much us (1930s with a touch of Spacey, x-files vibes). It was the perfect amount of eclectic and nerdy.

Our ceremony space was surreal and the reception was industrial and elegant. The food was some of the best we have ever had. We felt so lucky to be surrounded with so many fantastic and positive people.”

The Proposal

After meeting on Tinder, the pair had a year-long engagement. Roy proposed to Lily at Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon. “My grandfather told Roy that the mansion was his favorite place in Portland” said Lily. “My grandfather passed away a few months prior and wouldn’t be at the wedding. Proposing at the mansion was a way for Roy to include him”. Lily received a 1920’s engagement ring that would inspire a lot of her wedding decor.

Getting Wedding Ready

Lily and Roy spent the morning getting ready at their own Airbnbs. Roy was with his groomsmen and adorable dog Monty, and cat Chaplin. Lily was helped by her bridesmaids and family. She wore the Monica dress by BHLDN. “I loved my dress, I felt like it encompasses Roy and my style so well. It also matched my art deco engagement ring. We looked for a long time and the day we weren’t planning on looking, we found the one. My mom cried seeing me walk out of the room and I knew it was the one”. she said.

The Ceremony

We headed over to Hoyt Arboretum early in the afternoon. Hoyt Arboretum is an enchanting option for a Portland, Oregon wedding. The ceremony took place in the wedding meadow area. The altar was a stunning floral arch dripping with pink and red flowers that mirrored Lily’d bouquet. The “aisle” was lined by a simple grouping of limbs and leaves. Monty served as the most adorable ring bearer. The whole ceremony was more emotional than the couple expected. “I was so relieved to see Roy standing there,” Lily said. “I wanted to cry and laugh at the same time. And I did”.

The two exchanged their own vows. “It was the most memorable moment of the entire day for us. We were surprised by how touched everyone was for us. So many of our friends were crying and we didn’t expect that”.

The Reception

After the ceremony, guests cooled down with popsicle’s and we explored the nearby Redwood forest. The reception was at Plaza Del Toro. It’s an amazing restaurant in the Central Eastside Industrial District. The incredible space worked great for this Portland Oregon wedding reception. “It was so amazing. The food blew us all away! We were so happy to stuff our faces and dance with our friends and families. Our smokey cocktails were so fun and chic!” said Lily.

Of course, this was a Portland Oregon wedding so there was a brief downpour as everyone got inside. It was a perfect end to this summer wedding day.
