You know that feeling you get when you are with just the right people and doing exactly the right things and everything is going so perfectly it could be taken directly out of a movie montage? Well Christina and Hunters wedding day encapsulated that feeling with an intimate event of 75 and we are so jealous we didn't get to join!
This gorgeous mountain top resort in Utah provided a stunning view and kept the whole event very cozy as the main mode of transportation was via ski lift! Keep scrolling to see how they topped off this perfect night, and don't forget to visit the full gallery of Lyndsey Kaye's photos!
We met while working at Canyons and it was within that resort that our relationship unfolded. It felt so surreal being there with all of the people we love, celebrating our marriage. We both loved the size of our wedding. Including us there were 75 people. It was just those nearest and dearest to us and that made it very special. We had multiple guests comment that because it was a smaller wedding, it felt very real and they could feel that we were connected with everyone that night.
Something I will always remember and hold with me was the complete wave of calmness that washed over me the moment I started walking down the aisle with my dad towards Hunter. That stayed with me for the entire ceremony. All of the nervousness of us being the center of attention faded away and I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
My dress was a fit and flare gown with a sweep train by Watters and I loved the open back. It was the first dress I tried on. I tried on about five others and none of them compared. Trying on wedding dresses can definitely be overwhelming. When I put my dress back on for the third time, I finally asked everyone to just give me a minute of quiet to just be in the dress. Once that happened I could really start to let it all sink in and I knew it was what I wanted to wearing when I married Hunter. When Hunter saw me for the first time he immediately said, "I'm so happy you look like you." That was exactly what I wanted.
Day to day I wear my hair down in loose waves and I didn't want to suddenly be in an up do on my wedding day. I opted to do my own makeup because I wanted to feel like me and having my makeup professionally done I never felt that way.
During the planning process, I had seen so many photos where almost every guest had their phone out. More than just wanting our photos to be obstruction free, we wanted everyone to be present and experience everything with us, not through a phone screen.
I've always been a neutrals only kind of girl and even though it's on trend right now, I always wanted white as my wedding color. When creating my vision for the day, I saw all white flowers with hints of greenery and candles everywhere. I knew from the very start that I wanted the centerpieces to be all candles rather than a big arrangement of flowers. That was probably my favorite detail of the wedding. I loved having a candlelit dinner in our intimate venue. It brought a different element to our wedding that you don't usually see.
Overall, we wanted to create a soft and romantic feel with clean and refined details, which we added with acrylic signage. Typically my style tends to be classic with a slight edge or modern twist to it and I think our wedding reflected that perfectly.
Right after the ceremony, our coordinator ushered us into our reception area and shut the door behind us so that the two of us could have a moment alone. I'm so glad she did that and recommend all future brides and grooms do this. It gave us 5 minutes to soak in that we just got married before diving back into celebrating with all of our guests. It was so nice and special to have a moment that was for just the two of us to celebrate privately.
I wouldn't call it a "disaster" but our DJ didn't play the correct version of our first dance song. We picked All Around You by Sturgil Simpson. The album/original version is more of an upbeat song, which we wanted so it didn't feel like such a serious dance with everyone watching us. Our DJ ended up playing an acoustic version which was quite a bit quieter and slower than we intended. Instead of saying something or pointing out that something wasn't wrong, we just went with it. This way, we still got to have a special moment between the two of us without it being overshadowed by us pointing out the mistake. You always hear people say if something wasn't right no one but you two will know and that's definitely true and something to remember. If I could go back and re-do it, I would make sure to specifically state what version of the song we wanted and make sure the DJ was on board.
