From: CBS Lifestylist This bride is a short 10 weeks from her wedding day and politely explains her dilemma. She needs a wedding coordinator! Our connection was instant and the ideas poured out of both the mother-daughter team.
Katy and John’s lakeside homestead was one of the most beautiful locations I'd ever seen. I helped bring on a crew to round out this special event: Tam of Isari Flower Studio created a delicately rustic and romantic floral scene. Archive Vintage Rentals provided whimsical furniture that paired wonderfully with the mature willowy trees and natural lake landscape of their family's private property. We set San Diego Cuban Cigar Company stogies to add sophistication to the open lounge area nestled under the tree canopy.
Every single detail from the bride's delicately detailed dress and veil, masterfully crafted florals, and perfect lighting and music proved flawless, even though we only had 10 weeks to pull it all together!
Does the long and drawn out engagement/wedding planning process seem too daunting? What if you could cut it down to about a fourth of the time? Here are some of the essential pieces for a classic wedding and a few tips for planning your big day in under 3 months.
Wedding Location:
Be prepared for all of the usual wedding locations to be booked already, so instead get a little creative and look into non-traditional venues. Try, resaurants (this is an easy all in one option), Photo or film studios, or consider hiring a wedding planner, even if is just for location scouting. Hint, at this point you will probably have to be flexible with the date and time to maximize your choices.
Dresses:
With a 6 month waiting period if you order your wedding dress, that avenue is out. But we suggest looking through the in stock dresses at David’s Bridal or other large bridal stores. Or shake things up by wearing something not originally intended to be a wedding dress. As for your Bridesmaids, JCrew has a bridesmaid suitable line, or you can ask your gals to wear something they already have or purchase a dress in a specific color
It is recommended that you mail your invites at least 6 weeks before your wedding date. That doesn’t include the printing, addressing, and stamping time. Look for a local printer with a short turnaround time or you can do it right from your own home computer. Wedding Chicks has a plethora of cute and customizable wedding stationery along with fun signs for your big day. Just visit our Free Printables page to find something you love! Then customize it, download it, and print it. Super easy!
Wedding Food and Cake:
As mentioned before, if you have chosen a restaurant as your venue that’ll make catering super easy! But be sure to have fun with it, we love the romance of French or Italian cuisine, but imagine how fun it would be to have a taco bar at a favorite Mexican joint, or the modern vibe of a sleek little sushi bar for example. If the location you have chosen doesn’t do cakes, local bakeries can generally put together some stellar wedding cakes with at least a weeks notice. Hint: Save some cash by ordering a small display cake and feeding your guests with a sheet cake!
From the Bride:I would have relaxed more leading up to the big day. I always agonize over all of the details, when really, the guests probably wouldn't have noticed if the printing on my place-cards was medium brown or dark brown! I would encourage other brides to take a deep breath and enjoy the process...it doesn't have to make you completely crazy! My husband and I both come from really big families, so combine that with all of our friends and we had close to 200 guests at our wedding. Our budget kept growing and growing (thank you, Dad!). In order of importance in terms of money spent, went like this:
1. My gown. It was a great expense and worth every penny. I wanted to feel beautiful and special and I did!2. Flowers and decor. For me and my Mom, we love ambiance and the "tone" beautiful, lush, full, romantic flowers and decor set. This was hands down extremely important.3. Paper goods. From the "Save the Dates" to the Invitations to the place cards, programs, thank you notes on each table setting, to our gift thank you cards, they were all FABULOUS. I agonized over these and it was worth it. Nothing speaks beautiful like gorgeous paper and ink!4. Music. We found a band. They were awesome. Nothing wrong with a DJ, but a live band brings a certain energy to a party that can't be beat!
