Their Love Story

Kareen and Brad met on the tennis courts as kids; Kareen played doubles with Brad's sister, and Brad played doubles with Kareen's brother. They had been family friends for a long time, but it wasn't until college that Brad developed a crush on Kareen, and it took another 15 years ("and a good bit of wine" says Brad) for him to finally confess his true feelings to her.

A little over a year later on a trip to Tahiti, Brad dropped on one knee at sunset and attempted to propose in French ("since we were in French Polynesia and I thought it would be more romantic" says Brad), but Kareen did *not* think it was romantic and stopped him mid-speech. Thankfully, when Brad switched back to English, she said "yes"!

Designing The Day

During the planning process, Kareen had her heart set on a neutral color palette and expressed interest in Australian inspired designs with a mix of dried elements. She shared her thoughts with Brandi from Blend Designs Co., and then left everything up to her.

Brandi says, "My inspiration for the overall design was based on wanting to create something fresh and edgy, but also interesting to the guests that were attending. Kareen let me run wild with the creative aspect of the event, and that was how this baby was born! I live for brides who let me explore my creativity – the ones who don’t micromanage, but trust in all that I can do and have done. That is truly how some of my best designs have come to life.

Blend Designs Co. surprised the couple with a stunning dried floral chandelier that hung from the center of their reception tent and over the dance floor.

That Perfect Moment

Commenting on the most memorable part of the day, Brad recalls the feeling of his emotions welling up at the start of the ceremony that he hadn't expected. "The weight of the occasion finally hit me. Seeing our nieces and nephew enter as part of the bridal party helped me laugh, smile, and relax a bit. And then I remember seeing my bride for the first time, walking down the aisle with her father...that was the moment for me that time seemed to slow down. After that, it was all kind of a whirlwind – and I am very thankful that my wife found such amazing videographers (Aya Productions) and photographers (Mist of Morning Photography) to help us look back and remember the whirlwind of fun that it was."

From Mist of Morning Photography

As a wedding photographer, I am consistently blown away by the fact that couples choose me to be a part of one of the biggest days of their lives. It is such a privilege to photograph love stories for a living, and the gravity of that honor was especially present on my mind as I listened to Brad's tearful vows to Kareen during their ceremony. Commitment and joy are at the top of my list as far as inspirations go, and this wedding had no shortage of that. Thank you K+B for having me!
