Why is Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter mad? From throwing one too many poorly executed Wonderland themed tea parties is my guess. Turning the real world into a topsie turvie wonderland seems like fun, but if you it can also be quite maddening. This next couple was able to choose certain aspects and "whim-sify" them to great effect. Keep scrolling down to see just what they did and how you might be able to learn a few of their tricks.

From the Bride: The entire theme was personalized around us in the sense of two things we loved: adventures and tea. What better than a wonderland wedding? From there, each and every detail was planned around the idea of a "modern day mad hatter tea party" kind of feel. Desserts galore, flowers everywhere, a range of colors and table setups, books and teacups.
One of the best ways we were able to personalize the wedding was with our programs, which were newspapers. It had stories of how we met, crosswords puzzle and trivia challenges so people could get to know us better, and special thank you's to our friends and family. Not to mention quotes from Alice in Wonderland scattered throughout the program.
The overall feel of the event was crucial. I wanted people to feel like they'd left the "normal" world behind and walked into a true wonderland. We definitely went over our budget, but I will share that a big piece of it was the decor. Getting the setting right was really important for the look and feel of the day. Even though that took us over where we wanted to be, it was worth it.
We wanted something fun and adventurous, but classy. Elegant with a touch of madness. We drew inspiration from Alice in Wonderland and took key elements (the garden tea party setting, for example) to bring the idea to life, yet we wanted to avoid being too whimsical.
Never limit your creativity. I fully believe that if you have a vision in your mind, there is a way to bring it to life. Remember that you own your timeline of events for your wedding day. If you want something to last longer, or be cut out entirely, do it. - Also, if there's something you've imagined for your wedding, but haven't found it yet or haven't found a way to do it yet, don't give up. There is always a way to make your vision come to life.
