Floral fountain with sailboat decoration display piece

Keeping things close to home is a lovely way to plan your big day, especially when the question was popped on the nearby lake! Our next couples wedding was all about tradition, from a ceremony at the bride's parents church to a stunning ballroom reception. Oh but wait until you see the eye-popping florals that filled this immaculate day!

There is plenty to see and fall head over heels in love with about this classic wedding and trust us and Premier Planning Services, Inc., this posts sponsor, when we tell you there is, even more, to see in the full gallery. Be sure to check out all the amazing photos taken by the talented Sewell Photography.

The Proposal

It all began when John proposed in front of both our parents on a boat on Lake Minnetonka in Wayzata, Minnesota. It made perfect sense that we would follow the nautical theme and revolve our wedding weekend around the lake. We knew we wanted a traditional, classic wedding and therefore, would get married in my parent’s church, Saint Bartholomew. It is bright, intimate, and also only a couple blocks from Lake Minnetonka.

The Venues

To fit with our wedding tone, we chose the Lafayette Club as our venue, situated across the lake from Wayzata, on one of the many bays of Lake Minnetonka. This prime location allowed for a short scenic lake drive for our guests and a celebratory boat cruise for the wedding party! The high ceilings and gold accents of the exquisite ballroom were the exact touches of elegance we were looking for in a venue.

The Planner

To pull off this amazing fairytale, we hit the jackpot in finding our wedding planner, Rita Swanson and her team at Premier Planning Services! Not only does Rita have the same level of standards that we do, but she also works with all of the A-team vendors around the city. Rita made our dream become a reality. Every detail, big and small, was perfectly executed allowing us to truly enjoy the events we spent the year planning.

The Style

My makeup artist, Sherry Fredkove, gave me an enhanced natural look for the big day paired with hair designer, Danielle Goulet’s timeless updo. Both remained flawless despite 95-degree weather, a boat ride across the lake, and a night full of dancing!

John and his groomsmen wore navy tuxes, and the bridesmaids were in long sherbet pink dresses. The contrasting colors popped against the lake’s blue water and lush greenery in mid-July!

Elizabeth Bridal had many beautiful gowns, and I could not have gone wrong with any one of them. However, my Romona Keveza dress could not have been more stunning!

The Flowers

Steven, at Arts and Flowers, transformed the ballroom with romantic candles and the most breathtaking, sherbet-colored floral arrangements that you had to touch to confirm they were real! The flower girls carried “flower balls” on a ribbon…such creativity!

The Music

We loved music and wanted to create the playlists for each moment. We had classics that included the rat pack playing at our backyard, lakeside rehearsal dinner, a string quartet at the ceremony, and a trumpet player at the cocktail hour. After hearing the Blue Water Kings Band at a showcase, we knew they were our band! They had everyone on their feet dancing to everything from Van Morrison’s Brown- Eyed Girl to Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop the Feeling.
