So you've been in love for two decades, you have weathered quite a lot in the world of relationships but now is the time for that next big step; pledging your love forever and always. Meghan and Gavin's laidback farmhouse garden wedding was just that, beautifully casual and romantically un-fussy. Meghan even ordered her dress online without so much as a try on. Chalk her up for points in bravery and confidence!

Meghan and Gavin had been together for 20 years (I know, you'd never guess that by looking at them) before deciding to tie the knot in a super intimate ceremony in the backyard of their gorgeous and rustic farmhouse. The households special significance for the couple because it belonged to Meghan's beloved grandmother and now belongs to her and Gavin. Meghan told me that she ordered her dress sight unseen online a little over a month before the wedding, not knowing what it would look like in person. It was an absolute stunner and perfect for her wedding day vision! Meghan herself is a photographer and her style is absolutely impeccable.
We met when we were in middle school but hung with different crowds than in high school I got to know him and we became best friends. We were best friends for years and then I told him I loved him and he said it back when I was a senior in high school and the rest is history. Gavin proposed at our home as he knows how much it means to me. I was extremely close to my Grandmother and the memories held here are so special. He proposed on December 5 after we decorated the house with lights for Christmas. We have a tradition were we decorate and don't look at it until the very end. We walk to the top of the hill and turn around to look. When I turned around he had a ring hanging on a string and said, "do you want to decorate with this?”
The ceremony was very special to us... We wanted it to be short and sweet and it ended up being a lot longer than we thought because we wrote our own vows, we had a close friends read a poem and my best friend sang ave maria. Our very dear friend from when we were kids married us which was also very special. (Gavin and I have been together for 19 years so I didn't realize just how special the ceremony would have meant to me as it seems like we have been married for years already)
Our wedding was planned within 3 months but we knew we could pull it off because we wanted it simple. We are very laid back people and wanted it to be in a relaxed atmosphere so we decided to have it at our home which is extremely meaningful to us as it's been in my family for over 60 years and belonged to my Grandparents who I was very close to. We went for a bohemian/elegant look and stuck with light colors.
We have a strong faith so I added a set of rosary beads to my bouquet. We wanted the decor to be simple with a bohemian touch. My Father did all the flowers on the tables and used hydrangeas and ferns from his backyard. It meant a lot that he put the flowers together for us. The space/property is very beautiful so we didn't feel it needed to be decorated too much. We are super outdoorsy people and nature has plenty of beauty in it already.
My friends thought I was crazy but I actually ordered my dress having never tried it on! I found a dress on pinterest by Riki Dalal and they only had one boutique in the USA and the rest were in Europe and Israel. I got in touch with them and they made me a custom dress to fit me. I had gone to other boutiques to try dresses on but never felt happy in any of them. When I finally received this in the mail from Israel I was a little nervous but fell in love as soon as I put it on. Super happy I listened to my gut. My goal was to have a dress that wasn't heavy and had a lot of flow. My dress was so light and airy! The guys wore gray suits with what I thought more of a bohemian tie since it was a floral pattern.
Don't stress! We went with the flow and did very little and it turned out beautiful! We didn't put too much money into the wedding with decorations and it was still beautiful and memorable! We did it our way and didn't listen to anyone's option on what they thought we should do. It's your day!!! Do you! We had lots of people tell us it was their favorite wedding they have been to because of how relaxed it was. We didn't have any seating charts, we had buffet style healthy foods, we made a 4-hour playlist on our iPad for dinner, and dancing and played it through big speakers. We were just very chill about it all and it made it so much less expensive and relaxed.
