Laura and Weil are both the creative types. Laura and her sister own an event design company (FOUND) and Weil is a graphic designer. You bet their wedding was filled with do-it-yourself details and tons of personal touches. The entire wedding was handcrafted by Laura and Weil. From the vintage carnival inspired stationery to the the ceremony backdrop that contained 1230 feet of ribbon. Their biggest do-it-yourself wedding accomplishment was their custom-made, "Just Married" sign that lit up. We love it all, including the fabulous Holland wedding venue. There are so many more images to peruse in the full gallery here. All captured by The Reason.
From The Bride:
We were especially happy with the amazing venue we found in the south of Holland. The moment we opened the gate of the old farmhouse, we knew this was the place. It consists of several buildings around a courtyard. The ceremony and cocktail hour were held outside, we had dinner in the old pigsty (ha!) and partied in what once was the cow barn. The bridal party with their partners and we stayed in the gorgeous guestrooms the whole weekend. We all came down on the day before the wedding and set up the decorations together. We organized a BBQ that night and a brunch the morning after. This was truly the best decision we could have made. It was really special to spend so much time together and having all our loved ones involved in our wedding.
We picked our wedding colors first, along with the loose theme of a vintage carnival. This was based on the vintage photograph of two acrobats in mid-air that Wiel gave me for our 7-year anniversary last year. The circus represents the fun we have together and the acrobats symbolize freedom, trial and error and having faith in each other. We used part of this photo in our wedding invitation and on our guest book table.
Wiel and I designed the invitation suite, all the signs, the escort cards and temporary tattoos ourselves. We made the ceremony backdrop (with a whopping 1230 feet of ribbon), the photo booth props, pillow cases and bunting from vintage fabrics, the Just Married sign (our biggest accomplishment – it even had lights!), bridesmaids gifts, napkin rings from hardware, custom ribbon and lace and a tic tac toss game. Wiel is an avid baker and even made our wedding cake himself, as well as our signature cocktail. We used our custom-made monogram stamp on everything from envelopes to favor bags and cocktail napkins.
