Hawaii Proposal-Kualoa Ranch

Chelsey and Jordan's surprise wedding proposal took place in Ka’a’awa Valley at Kualoa Ranch where 50 First Dates, Jurassic Park and Lost were filmed. Jordan contacted me to arrange for his proposal and asked for something that would be out of the ordinary, completely surprising and of course memorable. I knew that I had to get them smack dab in the middle of an amazing meadow surrounded by stunning mountains. It's not what you typically think of when conjuring up a Hawaiian setting which made it even that more special.
Chelsey and Jordan starting dating when they were just 16. Chesley moved to Oregon for college while Jordan went to college in Hawaii. Four years apart only made them grow closer together. Chelsey returned to Hawaii to teach and Jordan attended medical school. Their engagement was a long time coming but still a complete shock to Chelsey. She was waiting for Jordan to graduate from medical school and didn’t know that what she thought was a birthday surprise would turn into a surprise proposal.
Jordan arranged for an island wide scavenger hunt that included a stop at a video store where she found a clue secured to the DVD of the first movie they watched together and the back of the school sign where she teaches, with the final clue directing her to the opposite side of the island to Kualoa Ranch. At each stop Chelsey received a key that unlocked treasure boxes that Jordan had placed with memorabilia of their relationship including a box of ticket stubs from movies they attended and a scrapbook with empty pages to fill in the rest of their story together.
Jordan met Chelsey at the ranch gate and took her along a winding path to a spot we set up in the middle of the beautiful valley. We hid on the side of the road as they drove up and photographer, Ashley Smith, found a hill to hide on to capture shots of Jordan proposing. The final key opened a box that contained Chelsey’s engagement ring. She said YES! They enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner after Ashley took a few brand new engagement shots as the sun set behind the mountains.
It was such a romantic engagement and is was an honor to be a part of it all.
